Lucio boops are cheap

OK so, of course, ball main here. Why the hell does Lucio have one of the best booping mechanics just at the tip of a single right click on a 4 sec CD?
If ball was (because of course it was, it’s barely unplayable right now since EVERYTHING counters him and is very hard to get an environmental elimination) so oppressive and could disrupt a lot and bla bla bla, why does this dude, which is basically Hammond as a healer, can just go singing La la la and boop an enemy 15 mts away in the most cheap way possible?
With ball you have to freeking roll through the team and hope for the best while Lucio is just chilling Wall riding, YES, WALL RIDING? WHAT KIND OF MECHANIC IS THAT LOL, anyway.
Everybody knows that very few times a Hammond will get out alive of rolling through a team because he is a BIG CONSTRUCTION WRECKING BALL OF ENORMOUS SIZE

Pharra environmental kills =not so cheap
Winston’s ult=not so cheap
Lucio environmental kill= cheap af
Ball environmental kill = almost impossible
Dva boop = not so cheap
Rein environmental kill = suicide
Etc etc etc

TL;DR
Lucio boop op and cheap as hell
Ball previous knock back nerf destroyed almost any possibility to get environmentals EVEN THO HE IS A HERO DESIGNED SAME AS LUCIO to DISRUPT, BOOP OUT OF THE MAP, TROLL, ETC.

Wrecking Ball max boop distance: 10m
Lucio max boop distance: 8m

Wrecking ball HP: 600 (excluding the couple hundred shields from E of course)
Lucio HP: 200

Idk doesn’t seem that bad tbh.

Don’t try to compare a support to a tank. Lucio isn’t even over preforming

I can count with two hands the environmental kills I’ve gotten after the nerf, and ball is all I play, and Winston.
Lucio can boop from places Hammond can’t, therefore is easier

at least its possible to kill a lucio

Lucio is extremely squishy and needs to get into very unsafe ranges to pull off boops that have high value. Boop also does a whopping 30 damage and if he goes for reddit boops he needs to sacrifice supporting his team for it. The two aren’t comparable IMHO.

Try playing Lucio for a bit and you’ll see that its not comparable. In comp too, not quickplay where it doesn’t matter if you’re throwing.

and also, its only really good if he boopes you off the map, so dont stand by the edge

Exactly, its not easy pulling those off in comp against good players. You have to take risks to do it, and team are quick to go after supports out of position

253 hours on Lúcio and I’d say decent environmental boops are rare for me to actually pull off. To be successful he has to be close which ends in feeding if you’re not successful.

Like others were saying it’s not really fair to compare a tank to a support. That’s like comparing Widowmaker to Zarya.

I mean yeah, enemy boops can be annoying sometimes but as long as you don’t stand near an edge you’re fine. It’s common sense.

Leave Lucio alone…leave support be. Lucio enviromental kills is honestly the only great thing about that hero. Don´t ruin another support, thanks.

The reason boops feel so bad is from the universal boop overhaul they did around the time that Echo came out. Prior to that, you could cancel most of the boops by running in the direction you were booped from so you could largely negate most of it if you were quick enough. After the rework, boops completely negate any momentum the player has in a direction and force them to move. Boops go through all movement abilities when they didn’t before and that, imo, is why they’re such a pain compared to how they used to be.

If lucio trys to run into the enemy team and disrupt them with a boop he will die instantly, while ball creates space for his team

This is the issue:

  1. Your boop was conditional. All you need to do is come into contact with people and you got a super long distance boop.

Lucio on the other hand has an active boop, which requires activation and intent. It is a short distance, high verticality boop and is his primary defense tool. It is as crucial of a component of Lucio’s survival as adaptive shield is to yours. Boop availability is the absolute key to survival for Lucio in many encounters.

This change is a literal death sentence for Lucio.

Roadhog, Dva and Winston will absolutely demolish Lucio when the exp card goes live. There is literally no escape any more, and he will stand and die. The same is true of Doomfist (who will have 3 different displacement skills on a lower CD than Lucio) and Genji. The ability to create space is roughly 70% of Lucio’s survival.

Offensively, boop is even more crucial to keep opponents from making space by placing them into corners or airborne for followup shots.

  1. You still have boop and it’s distance is still better than Lucio’ plus you have ground pound displacement. Two different displacement tools, airborne mobility, higher speed and survival.

Lucio’s boop takes significant risk as a far lower survival character who must be at very close range and a widely varying arc to get his boop to land. Environmental kills are not the primary or even secondary use of boop, but it allows Lucio to enforce bad or risky positioning.

  1. Give me a break…your hampster literally came into an established game and usurped one of Lucio’s best roles (backline disruption and chaos) and now has the gall to complain because you aren’t better in every single regard?

Well, I thought about what u guys said and I just confirm again and again that Lucio boops environmental kills are ez af. Watch any noobhunter/freshnuts video, play any match you would like, Lucio always on fire getting environmental after environmental.

I don’t know why u say that Lucio is on a disadvantage and not healing his team and him being a squishy and that his boop range is shorter than other heroes and bla bla bla bla, all of that are just excuses to the easiest way of getting an elimination in this game. Of course it all depends on the map since I know not all maps have ez ways to get environmental kills but we’ll, I guess Lucio is untouchable because he requires skill… Like other heroes require it as well.

so like the channels that selects good/funny clips shows good lucio plays? wow, totally not expected. In reality they show like 2 good boops when thousands and thousands of bad boops also happened on the same day.

I wonder what game you play, the amount of good boops i see on a day i can count on 1 hand at best.

And as long as ball is grappled his boop has pretty much 0 CD.

My problem with Lucio’s Boop is that he can be looking straight down, boop, and you go flying backwards. Makes zero sense, just like McCree’s flash literally cancelling any momentum you ever had.

i believe Lucio’s boop uses the same sort of boop mechanic as Junks mine, Junkrats mine will always boop you up even if the mine is above you.

Which I find dumb as well, even if I play a lot of Junkrat.
