Lucio boop is really really bad now and it feels sad that probably the most rewarding part of playing him has been nerfed to the ground.
The boop resistance all tanks get now basically makes it impossible to get a boop kill even when a tank stands right next to a pit and got outplayed because its one of the only boop abilities that you can correct after being booped (Literally holding the opposite direction of what you are travelling in). Its not even fair because other abilities have actually got better at booping (Doomfist punch, Orisa spear, Brigette flail, Zenyatta kick) while boop consistently gets weaker. Now Lifeweaverâs new abilities looks like a new âcounterâ to some of the hardest kills to even get in the game.
Lucioâs boop seriously needs a buff to its potency because positioning yourself for boop kills arenât even worth it anymore because youâre more likely to die than consistently get anything done and its just stupid that Zenyatta has a stronger boop (In distance) that has no cooldown.
I think making his boop deflect projectiles would be a good change
Boops donât need to be buffed, an instant kill is already a pretty good reward for something that isnât that hard to lineup.
If anything, they need to stop making maps that encourage boops because they are cheap to die to. Having pits is fine, putting a big hole in the middle of the objective or forcing you to take the objective over a tiny bridge is not okay.

That would make Lucioâs boop way too good given the massive hitbox and very low cooldown. It would be way too easy to deflect any important projectile.
As much as I dislike Ana, if she were going up against a Lucio Kiriko comp then switching would be the only good play.
Its not an instant kill though, more than half the cast actually can reposition themselves out of a boop and if youâre playing next to a pit and die to a LUCIO boop, you more than deserve it. You could argue that Doomfist insta right clicks sending you off the map are unfair, but Lucio canât boop you further than 2 metres most of the time.

Nah, instant kills are bad enough just existing, ones that donât require precise aim are just degenerate
The shadow nerfs first started back when they changed how moving in the air works back in like season 9 or 10.
Ever since then there has just been more and more nerfs piling up without boop itself ever really being changed.
On top of that the community as a whole has gotten better bout not standing next to ledges. Enviro kills as Lucio are far rarer than they used to be. Even displacing enemies feels way weaker.
Good thing none of the new maps have this. Some maps having good boop spots isnât bad, you can play around it at least
You can try to play around it, itâs just more a game of chicken on Rialto. On Ilios Well, yeah itâs more deal-with-able.
Iâd say the boop is a valuable game mechanic on lucio. How much value Lucio should get from healing on top of the boop is another question (or his ability to speed buff the team).
He encourages the enemy team into decision making and counterplay in even the lowest tiers of play. Knowing thereâs a lucio on the enemy team, especially after a death, makes players take different paths, try different picks, consider their positioning if they start coming.
I think my favorite example of this is on illios, where the fastest paths to the point are often the ones with the most risk if the enemy team has a lucio.
If anything, having a few maps where players can easily tell âThis map has a pit, Iâll go lucioâ should, on paper, encourage diversity in team composition.
Oh yeah, I donât mind boop kills being a possibility, I just think map design suffers whenever they emphasize it too much.
Rialto is the worst offender, but maps like Lijiang Night Market and Illios Lighthouse just kinda suck when people are focusing on boops because you pretty much have to limit your options of approach since itâs not easy to work around actually getting booped.

to balance it, I think if they remove the 25 dmg soundwave does and make it deflect i think it would be fine. maybe increase his ult cost by like 8% or something as well.
I donât even think we need that, I just want this thing to boop properly and consistently so I can play the character the way its meant to be played. Its ridiculous that booping nowadays is more luck than skill.
Wtf are people here talking about instakills? This is possible only on 5 maps!! 2 Ilios, 2 Lijang and Rialto. Whoever gets booped out of the map on the rest of the maps he is really deserving it! No other words sorry.
Ps: my most envirokills in 1 game was 14 if I remember correct. In QP it put me into low lobby 𫣠Most sattysfying was vs T500 Lucio on the Nepal next to Mega health at the backyard

Iâm pretty sure you can DI every boop except for Punch and Javelin
You canât DI Pharah boop, Flail and Wreckingball roll

Problem with Lucio is, he is meant to surf on the walls, but when he does so, he is looking to enemies from above! And in this situation his boop is loosing 1/2 of power. Biggest boop distance has when he crouches right next to enemy and lookin upwards about 45degree.
