Since OW2 announcement it has been obvious that there are a lot more new players in the game. Level 25+ doing their placements for the first time. The problem is that during their first placement games they are placed with mid to low golds. Anyone that plays at that rank knows that as bad as some golds are, new players are just not going to compete. Most players at that rank know the map layouts, somewhat know team comps and counters, and are aware of killfeed etc.
New players in their first comp games are unfortunately very unlikely to be able to compete and it’s often painfully obvious when one is in your game and it can be infuriating and adds to an already smurf filled miserable experience. It would also save these players from the abuse they can get and they might actually buy OW2.
im going to go ahead and disagree there. why would people be coming to a 5 year old game that has a had a very public lack of content and a sequel announced?
lets not even talk about all the controversy surrounding blizzard.
i don’t know how much I agree. My first ever placement in this game was 1900, and in one season I climbed to 2300, then the next into 2600 when I first started this game.
Yes. Smurfs are going to throw games to get there anyway. Why not have them start low so they don’t have to throw all the way down before they start stomping. The sooner they start stomping the sooner they are out of low ranks.
Yes because a smurf that wants to smurf at bronze is going to smurf at bronze, so better to just start him at bronze then to have him throw/ruin a bunch of games on his way down to reach bronze anyways
From what I’ve seen of smurf throwers, they’ll typically pull off an amazing potg, to fluff their epeen, dominate the enemy for start of the match to assert their superiority, then hard throw 2nd half to assure a loss.
These scumbags just want the thrill of dominating less good players, which throwing 2nd half lets them do.
