If you’re below Masters possibly… Diamond? I do not advise you to play Mercy because pocketing a bad player isn’t worth it.
Increasing a top500 sojourns impact by pocketing is a worthwhile investment pocketing Bronze BurgerTimmy who can’t hit any shots anyway isn’t worth it.
You know what would be a better value investment going Ana and Anting the whole team or going Bap and saving your team and securing Eliminations on Low HP targets
=======================
Essentially playing mercy in low ranks will take forever to climb because you’re essentially relying completely on RNG.
Mercy can easily carry a game without even having to touch damage boost. Low rank players will get tremendously more value on mercy then they could ever obtain on Ana
If you’re heal botting why not just play Bap or Moira and get more value on top.
Moira is like the infamous low rank destroyer.
==============
You need something to create value in low ranks to win so that you can rankup quickly playing mercy relies on RNG because your teamates have to be better than theirs Imo its practically RNG.
You act like healbotting with mercy is bad? Even before the healing buff she could healbot pretty well. With the recent buff to her healing, she can put out even more heals now and has become a much better tank healer. Bap also requires skill to play well.
I agree, he has lethal potential some slight mobility impactful kit and decent heal his very well rounded.
Heal botting does nothing, keeping alive a soldier who misses 38/40 bullets all game and hoping he gets value does nothing, you can keep him alive just as well on baptise and just out duel the enemies in low ranks and frag or Anti the enemy team and cleanup.
I agree in principle, but if you climb from low ranks using a certain loadout(s) and then switch to one you’re not proficient in, you’ll end up falling back down and throwing a lot of games for other people.
Well if you’re a silver baptise you’re not going to climb are you.
The whole point is you’re not a silver baptise you’re a gold baptise in a silver rank, so hopefully you will have better mechanics and aim than the enemy team otherwise you’re not going to climb because you’re genuinely silver
An extremely important low rank Support tip that constantly gets overlooked is not only understanding what good positioning is, but WHEN TO ROTATE. Even when the lower rank Supports I review for do start off in a good position, they consistently fail to recognize when it’s time to rotate and where to rotate to. So they end up with both a horrible LoS on the fight while simultaneously being smack dab in the middle of it, which leads to them panicking everytime.
My preference is just counterpick. All of my matches with Hammond go immediately better the moment I pick Brigitte. No contest. Its so easy to shut him down and get generally free value on Brig against most hammond players. Even with Kiriko or Ana in the game Brig is just easy value.
Meanwhile, it is like more advantageous to me to play Havana, Junkertown, and Circuit Royal as Mercy most of the time since reversing long range picks is huge value for how frequently they tend to happen. Playing Mercy into Dorado, Gibraltar, or Parasio as well. However, certain maps feel better as Kiriko such as King’s Row, Esperanca, Night Market, and others.
Picking Lucio on control maps first before swapping since getting to first point to abuse enemy choke points is such great value compared to Moira. Moira is okay, but in the end many of the other supports on map types and team type sare just so much better.
I don’t think the kit matters as much as understanding how that kit gets value. You can climb in metal ranks as Ana just by using CDs well and healing, maybe putting some damage into the enemy tank when they’re low, and using well-timed nanos. It’s that simple.
But game after game you will see Bronze or Silver Anas inting on the front line five feet behind their tank feeding all game and missing all their CDs. This person would be better off on Mercy but they’re not going to climb on anyone because they don’t know how to play support regardless of the kit.
At lower ranks counter picking is even stronger as if people are not as good having to face an uphill challenge where they are at a deficit. If you were already bad, taking easy and and consistent counters immediately makes those flaws all the more apparent.
It also means when you face a good player you are facing them with the best advantage possible. I play 40% Mercy in QP. I’m not quite a one trick, but I’m pretty heavily a Mercy main. To me, knowing when your character is not quite enough for the situation is part of playing them.
Unfortunately when it comes to random grouping its not always true. I have played a few dozens of games where we had 0 deaths and our DPS also had 0 kills in Attacks, and of course, lose.
Unless your other members know what they are doing, its quite hard to hard carry as a Mercy. And I ain’t dare using “easily” in this case because whenever I “carry” there is a always a good player in our team.
