idk if you have watched metal rank play, but there is barely any thought in it. its all reaction and guesswork. a big reason ppl end up stuck is because they cant problem solve and learn from mistakes.

I mean, until they start thinking they won’t climb anyway. Maybe they will abuse some easy meta hero like previously Orisa and climb a bit, but they will drop hard when said hero gets nerfed.

bronze to diamond is almost entirely mechanical (its largely fundamentals, so positioning, awareness and mechanics). people dont start to “think” until like mid diamond or so.
all im saying is, its better for someone to improve enough to climb to a decent point and THEN specialize.
they dont have to swap at the first moment there might be a counter, you swap when you get no value.
if someone can play pharah into bap, ana, ashe, widow and win. more power to them, but when that one widow is killing them every chance they get, they can either lose the match and bash their head against the wall and learn nothing or they can swap, potentially win the match and go back to the vod to see what they did wrong and where they could improve.
option A causes alot more tilt then Option B. a person only doing option A is likely to give up entirely while Option B will continue on and improve

i agree on all exemple but sniper are a counter to rein, escpacially sniper + mercy rez
if you want an exemple of bad pick vs rein you can say cree, junkrat, hanzo kind of, repear, torb ,everything low ground with no mobility asking to be hammered or charged (except mei), but vs sniper you can only do much

I think the game comes down to some other things as well. These things are different depending on rank, too.
Every role has this issue, the number of heroes in the DPS role has nothing to do with people deciding to play what they want and essentially choosing to lose the game for you and themselves. I’d argue that it is throwing but at the end of the day, people are selfish and don’t care, not only that but they aren’t going to think too hard about what counters what and all that. They will continue to one trick or continue with their pick because that’s what they wanted to do.
This is where the flaw of competitive being essentially QP+ comes in. We need an actual comp mode that gate keeps 99% of the player base from even being able to access it so the people who want to sweat out of their minds can go play that and everyone else who clearly will never care can just continue to play QP.
Its called “get a team and go scrim”.

The least mechanically demanding role. So for them, switching is purely tactical as a blind-deaf chimp could play their heroes to 99% capacity.

That’s not a competitive game mode. People want a real competitive system, the one we have has never been that. SR has always been more of a social rank than an actual measurement of skill.

So… you can refuse to work with the team and play how you want, but when i go dps moira you get triggered. You refuse to swap off 76 vs dva but you expect me to swap to mercy. Sure
