This has really shifted quite a bit with th8s new update.
Teamwork is more important than ever, but it seems if players don’t coordinate as some cohesive unit, it feels like you can’t really play the game at all.
Not on Tank, not on dps, not on support.
We’re stuck sitting there waiting on another role to do their job.
I get that players will adapt over time, but this influx towards the need for teamwork has started really creating a spike in toxicity.
I have never seen players turn so harshly upon one another and likewise have never seen individuals become so predictably hostile at a mere mention of any semblence towards playing together.
Sadly passion and ego plays a large part into the toxicity, however eomm is honestly messing with people to the next level atm.
there are not enough people for smooth rank distribution, groups bring that distribution off kilter, and sadly we are left with the mess, so it is on the community.
However emotions can be monetized even in the extremes and if you can sway it to be beneficial to blizzard profits the better (The games where you couldnt miss a head shot even if you tried and had an immobile healer on the cart just chillen…
After that wonderful game some people might be incline to buy a skin on that character, or battle pass, problem is if the system was truly fair new players would leave faster then they already are… so you gotta sprinkle them into the mix creating more inconstancy…
Because the Devs have gone in the direction of solo gameplay instead of teamplay. Most people wanna log in do what they want and just vibe, theyre not actually interested in trying to play as a team. Competitive isnt competitive anymore
This is especially true for dps players. This is anecdotal, but tanks and supports in general have had to play with their team for survival’s sake.
With the new health pools, dps passive, and now everyone regens health after a time, dps are off on their own now more than ever. They wanna Rambo against the other team, objectives and teammwork can take a flying leap.
Just an anecdotal opinion from your average ow player.
Have you ever seen a game that has been changed as drastically as this one, including promising the community whole new gameplay modes (story line pve) that were lied about and canceled altogether?
I myself, I actually like the counter/countered playstyle. I play several heroes in all three roles, and I don’t mind countering or getting countered, I enjoy it.
I think the majority of players who don’t like this are one tricks who refuse to learn more heroes.
You had counter picks, but you could still make almost anything work.
Plus if you did loose to your counter pick, you had an extra tank to smooth out the rough edges.
So the fights were not always instantly lost.
Imagine your hogs getting blown up by an ana nade, and a dive comp every fight, and they don’t swap. Steamroll.
Now throw in an extra tank on each team, and that hog has a dva that can eat some of that damage when he’s naded. So he doesn’t instantly die every time.
LITERALLY the opposite lol. They have made everyone entirely reliant on each other to even play the game at a base level
You as a support have to rely on your team to have good positioning else your heals are useless
As a tank you are often reliant on your dps to hit the enemy to proc the dps passive before you can actually do anything
As a dps you are entirely reliant on your team actually following up on your kills and targeting the people you have anti’d
You are unable to do anything by yourself anymore. You are reliant on everyone playing their part in the rock paper scissors to win. This is the most ‘hard counter or lose’ season so far
Sorry ill rephrase, they’ve TRIED to make players more independent but on teality like you said the oppisite has happened, the only players wjo have benefited from all this are DPS players.
The problem is people think it can be balanced in a way where you can solo carry. Spoiler alert if characters have more power to do so than a team sticking together have even more power to roll over the one that is trying to solo play. The fact that people don’t seems to be able to get this one fact is so beyond me.
I agree with this, its like how most people want their one hero to be good in every situation when in reality thats not gonna and should not happen. The further they divert from team play the worse the game gets
