First game I was 2% and lost went to 0 with demotion protection, game after it I won and it gave -1% and again demotion protection. Third game losing caused me to demote. I don’t know if its normal but just came weird.
before => game result => after
2% => lose => 0% demotion protection
0% => win => 0% demotion protection [win granted -1%]
0% => lose => 87% demoted
87% => win => promoted
YES had this problem as well!! i won two games back to back but only lost elo, it says -1% demotion protection and it was a wide queue between bronze-plat, so i thought it would give me a lot of elo especially bc i did pretty well but nope, nothing at all
This is because of how the demotion protection works. In reality, behind the scenes, your percentage is dropping into the next rank and if you are flip flopping between losing and winning, you’ll see a visual that shows you are losing SR, but in reality you have gained/lost the right amount, just the visualisation of that is hidden due to the demotion protection mechanic.
okay so what about if i havent lost any of the games though? i won two games in a row and stopped playing comp bc the demotion protection kept saying -1% despite me doing well in the matches and it being a widematch of bronze-plat
I don’t think it was right amount to be honest because after i won and lost again demoted and dropped to 87% which tells to me I got nothing when i won the game. After one win i should get one game demotion protection I believe. If it’s not the case then my bad i guess.
