Lost 50sr because my internet disconnected

I don’t understand why i lost so much sr from my internet disconnecting, I thinking if I left the match manually THEN it would be ok, but I think that the game should have an autodetect on if a person has bad internet and was forced out of a match. In conclusion if a person Is forced into it then it should be only 15-25 instead of 50.

How would they implement this?

Blizzard cannot tell whether your internet cut out or if you just hit alt+F4 and closed the game. Also, they have stated before that there needs to be some penalty, because you having bad internet impacts your teammates. It’s not fair to you, sure, but it’s also not fair to your teammates if they can’t count on you being in a full match.

If you are playing a “competitive” mode and have bad internet, and that bad internet cuts out, then you should be penalised for it. Do not play a competitive game unless you know for sure your internet connection is 100% fine.

If you disconnect you doom your team to failure 95% of the time, they all lose SR for it unfairly. If they take a 20-30SR hit, you should definitely take more for being the cause of this.

Also, Blizzard would have no way of detecting a bad internet connection, on their end its no different to you just quiting the game.

If you leave a game you leave a game. Everybody else on your team suffers because of you whether intentional or not.

yes this has happened to me 3 times in the last 24 hours and only on comp servers pls fix because i have sat through 3 hours of suspensions and lost over 150 sr and also happened me when i was queing so i lost sr for not even for my internet dropping out.

Yeah I’ve lost more sr from getting dcd than losing. But I continue to play bc it’s fun. Who cares if I lose some sr from dcing. I deserve it.

Get better internet connection then? There is NO WAY for Blizzard to know what happened. Did you have a disconnect? Did you just pull the plug? Its technically impossible for Blizzard to know WHAT was the cause = -50SR for “leaving”. 95% of the disconnects happening are on players side and in 5% (at most) its on Blizzards side.
For Blizzard you are a “leaver” if you disconnect, and you have 2 minutes times to rejoin the game.

If Blizzard implemented lower sr losses for accidental DC’s people would just pull out their ethernet cord or turn their wifi off.

You have 2 minutes to rejoin without penalty. I usually can rejoin within 30-45 secs. The 2 min window is quite sufficient I think.

You leave game, you get penalty.
Done, there is no circumstance that does, or should, change that.

you made 5 teammates lose the game, you deserve to lose more

Same i lost 50 due to the power trip

but theres always a notification whenever you disconnected accidentally from the game.
“lost connection to the server” says the loading screen.

if theres a notification like that, then why cant Blizzard detect such thing?

“Blizzard should add a system so players can unplug their modem and receive a less harsh penalty for leaving.”

That’s basically what you just suggested. Sounds pretty stupid, doesn’t it?

I had my internet go down three times in two days losing 150SR. While it sucks, I knew to risk going competitive.

Unfortunately, this is the developers best idea for policing leavers in competitive matches. It sucks to lose 50SR for something out of your control, but as another poster stated, there is no way for Blizzard’s servers to know this.

Just a bunch of 0’s and 1’s the server is identifying or not if you are not connected while the match is still ongoing.

A leave, is a leave, is a leave. I know it sounds harsh but if blizzard did not make the consequence universal for leaving a competitive match regardless of the reason, then it would get abused.

I sat out of competitive for a season and a half last year. I did not queue for competitive during that time because I did not trust my internet connection. It took me a long time to finally convince my ISP that they had an issue. They finally resolved it and after 10 days of no disconnect in quick play, I felt confident I could queue competitive again.

Why did I go though all that voluntarily? Simple. I did not want to be ‘that guy’ who ruins the match for my five team mates by leaving early. I have seen games that were almost won until a leaver happened on the winning team and it gave the other team just enough advantage to win the match. I don’t want to be ‘that guy’ that unfairly puts my team at a disadvantage.

Sorry to hear you have issues. But, while I empathize - I would suggest not queuing for competitive until it gets resolved.

Same thing for me kept on getting losses cuz my teamates won’t listen to me and now I loss like 100 sr from lag.

They can, but then people would just pull out their ethernet cable or turn off their wifi to avoid penalties.

It’s unfair that once every other week my internet dies on me and it’s always when I’m in a competitive game. I don’t choose the internet, I just use what’s given to me. It’s unfair, yes, but there’s no way to make it fair. There’s no way for the game to realize what the underlying issue is. So those of us with less than stellar internet connection are doomed to stay in silver, gold, and plat.
