Losing record still climbing: Proof of poformance based elo?

I have not played comp in 3 years and was interested to know my rank when placing. I was 3300 sr on support and 2800 on tank. I placed plat 2 on both roles. I climbed plat 2 to diamond 5 on a even 500 record, equal amount of losses and wins, on tank. On my support role I went 10 wins and 14 losses and have climbed slightly in plat 2. My stats (especially my elims per life) are very good and I have very low amount of deaths. I have less than 3 deaths per 10 on Lucio for example. On my support account I keep getting matched against smurfs with very high stats and I am having a hard time winning. I heard of people deranking going 5-0. What’s going on here? This system is confusing.

I feel like the system will anchor you “somewhere” and your win loss sr awards differently depending on your relative positioning to that “anchor”.

So if your sr mapped mmr is below your real mmr, your mmr gains are higher when you win and losses are not as big.

Or

Your sr mapped mmr is above your real mmr, your losses in sr are bigger than your gains.

Just thinking that thru… it could be your team avg mmr is your projected mmr. So that way it tries to prevent boosting?

Something is preventing “flat” gains/losses. And as a solo-q it sucks.

On my support account I don’t get average matches above plat one. On my tank account I get D2 and D3 matches all the time. Wouldn’t that indicate MMR? At least as a rough estimation?

hmmm. this is a niche case though… 3 years is a long time who knows what the algorythms think of you?

If i had to speculate though let’s use your support role SR as an example…

I think by default for ‘new players’ a lot of them get assigned a plat-ish rank for comp when they first start. they should quickly fall or climb depending how they do, but with you having a history at 3300, it may have placed you say 2800 and you held yyour own… having a sub 50% win rate over 24 games (you’re only down 4 total games which in SR terms is a loss of like 80-100 SR) which is actually pretty good considering how long you’ve been away from thee game. so the system thinks maybe you do deserve to keep your rank and it put you at 3000. You are still WELL below your 3300 considering you’ve played less than 25 games so far but it’s clear you’re not a complete fish out of water so far so maybe the system has compromised here? Sure you may still rise or fall but my guess is your account is in a state of “rapid rank re-assignment” or something. I don’t think your rank sounds all that crazy in this case.

There’s accounts that are hard stuck/anchored, there’s a winner queue, a losers queue, skill based hit boxes (making a video on this proving it already have indisputable evidence). The entire matchmaking is broken and fake.

Yea sounds like tank is still “anchored” higher than your sr if your climbing on 50:50 (lord knows I wish I could climb on 50:50).

I’m genuinely looking forward to your video on this - I’ve seen this theory floated a lot the last couple of days and the few sceenshots posted so far have been absolutely laughable and easily explainable.

I’d love to see a real smoking gun on this issue. kudos to you for taking the time to compile real evidence.

errr let’s be clear guys - the OP is NOT climbing. he dropped in rank by a lot. Literally a single rank up dropped him the equivalent of like 8 divisions in a single placement…

IDK why everyone is hyper focusing on the fact that it actually went back up slightly. He was a 3300 rated player. It rapidly placed him like 800 lower and it has no back pedaled a little bit considering he’s played less than 25 games so far. He’s sitting at the equivalent of 3000 right now which in OW1 terms would have been like if he lost 15 games in a row yet he has only had a net loss of 4 games… You guys are SO hyper focused on his “rank up” you’ve lost sight of the fact he has actually deranked a sh*t ton overall lol.

Is it really that shocking? broken even? IMO this sounds perfectly reasonable - I wouldn’t be surprised if he has another small rank up or rank down on his next card but again it will be smaller than the last 2 swings as it gets closer and closer to where he should be.

I don’t think there are these queues. What I do think happens is that the game becomes extremely difficult or extremely easy depending on your winning or losing streak. Back in overwatch one days I got on a 20 game losing streak and after that I was getting boosting smurfs on my team frequently. The difficultly spikes and lowering the difficultly artificially is a plague on modern games. My second favorite halo infinite suffers from this problem. It seems a lot of modern games have similar mm algorithms.

Yes, they’re all designed by someone who was mistaken for intelligent.

Just checked my halo stats 680 wins and 676 losses. (On 1.5 k/d which is considered very good). It’s down right depressing modern matchmaking.

If this is your first OW2 placement it’s to be expected. Everyone got deranked at the start of OW2, but it was only rank, not MMR. So climbing was easy. I finished OW1 mid plat. Got placed in bronze 1 in OW2 and then climbed back to plat with big jumps in rank independent of wins or losses.

I’m interested to know what proof you have of the hitbox manipulation. I see this all the time, I can tell almost instantly if I’m in a winning match or losing match just by how the game feels. Can’t really explain it just feels off when it’s a set up loss, and super responsive when it’s on easy mode. Even though my ping and network latency are the same in each.

I posted some screenshots of obvious manipulation of hitboxes, damage through walls etc , but was just told it’s all down to ping and a ‘shooter first’ system, even in the situations where I’m the shooter and my hits aren’t registering.

I was playing Moira yesterday and sent out a healing orb which literally disappeared in front of my eyes. I thought oh Dva ate it, but then realised there’s no Dva in play. I would go back to the replay viewer and it would either show something which just never happened, or make no sense whatsoever, players shooting two people at the same time for example. If this is what the server ‘sees’ then no wonder the game is in the state it is. I’ve given up trying to understand it the games just broken.

Keep playing and record videos of it. What I’m seeing is the actual hit box becomes smaller so it’s more difficult to hit them, or larger to assist you. There will always be people who refuse to believe despite the evidence (flat Earthers) , but most will believe a video.

I fully believe it’s performance based as well. I went like 5-2 and went from like plat 4 to diamond 5 and then went 5-12 and only dropped from diamond 3 to diamond 5. It feels like I’m anchored pretty hard irrelevant of my wins and losses.

I still see no actual proof besides your word.

I would very much like to know this information!!! It seems like an inherent part of the growth process and it’s just locked away for no reason other than to hide the flaws in the system. Unbelievable.
