My internet connection is pretty decent, but overwatch only game that losing connection out of nowhere. That red triangle thing appears and in 3 second my game loses connection. What I should to do to prevent this? And I’m getting suspended from QP every freaking time.
You can perform troubleshooting steps or work with your ISP on the connection problem.
i tried to restart my router, and contacted with my ISP, but they nothing helped. ISP told they don’t block anything overwatch/blizzard related. Nothing helped. Losing connection only in Overwatch
This has also been happening to me.
Connected via ethernet, entire game just lags, everyone around me starts rubber banding and the game disconnects. I also lose access to my internet for a few seconds before it comes back. I’ve played other games (i.e. Valorant, NMS, Once Human, etc), but none of them have had a similar issue. This is an OW2 only bug, and has been ongoing for a few days now. I’ve received suspensions because I disconnect during comp matches. All the posts I’ve seen from Blizzard Techs are all the same, and this issue has been reported on forums and reddit atleast once a year since 2019. Would really like for Blizzard to address the issue and look into fixing it instead of advising us to “troubleshoot”. We all know how to do that, and we’ve taken what steps we can take from our end.
Comparing your connection to other games isn’t a good troubleshooting step. It’s the same as saying “all other roads I travel have no accidents, so that means there are no accidents on any roads and the problem is the destination.” None of those games are hosted in the same location and use different internet routes.
Blizzard develops games, not internet routes. They reduced their connection troubleshooting to match other AAA titles. If you disconnect from Valorant or NMS, they will likely provide the same instructions.
I recommend pursuing connection tests like PingPloter or WinMTR and then showing the results to the ISP.
I ran Wireshark for my connection issues and my network/ISP is fine, no packet loss. Right up until the data enters Blizzards network. Then it’s packet loss and halted/refused connections. This is the same behavior I had in one of my jobs and we needed to expand the #/size of concurrent connections as that was the issue. That appears that the issue is on Blizzards end. On top of my connection lost, when I do get a game, the rubber banding is insane. And next to me, Wireshark and network health/speed all show green on my end.
Most of Blizzard’s nodes are configured to intermittently ignore ICMP packets (the type used in these tests) as a DDoS protection mechanism. It will result in displaying packet loss and extremely high response times, even if there aren’t any.
I play on the Chicago and Las Vegas servers everyday due to my location, which are the only two in the U.S. I’m not sure which servers you tested, but currently these two are performing as expected (no rubberbanding, high pings, or disconnections) while playing.
I’m also getting this same issue. The red disconnection icon appears and then I disconnect. I had the same issue a month ago but it was solved by using Americas instead of Asia when logging in.
Now, I’m experiencing the same issue on Americas. My friend in the same house, playing on the same internet, has no issues, but my other friend playing on a different network with a different service provider has the same issue… Any chance you can help?
I get what you’re saying, but considering the responses you’ve gotten in this thread and many other like it, I think its clear this is an issue on Blizzard’s side.
