I think this needs to be addressed by someone from blizzard
too many non meta players have made posts about “warning” messages
as they are being reported for ab chat and gameplay sabotage
however most will argue that if you are even remotely human
the blizzard bot
that runs a toxic text chat check on the account when the ban is issued
I think it would find anything to uphold any said bans
but now that ab chat reports have been abused by the community soo much
and the community’s stance is the reporting system is too weak as it’s a threshold system and it’s been proven
and they are now closing accounts after so many “suspentions”
my question is this
literally the only way to play this game without fear of bans is to
a buy a new account
play on it
with the chat completely disabled and hidden, and the voip set to auto join team and volume at zero
even that isn’t safe ?
maybe you need to actually take a look at how bad your community’s behaviour in game truly is
if you gave them a policing tool that needs to be policied itself
so yeah in any game mode
any random player can report u and it counts towards your ultimate permanent account ban
there is no re course
until this is fixed or changed in some way
i’d recommend new players avoid this game
as there is no recourse to perma bans issued by toxic players

I’m pretty sure that there is someone in charge of approving and declining the reports that the Blizz Bot recieves. and there’s many ways that person can see if they can ban or not ban. Ex. youtube videos. Chatlogs. screenshots. witnesses

as someone who’s lost an account
I can tell u that there isn’t anyone who looks it’s literally code checking for a word list in chat logs, and that’s all chat logs so pm’s and group discussions count.

When you create a support ticket, a Blizzard employee will look at your account for the first time and decide if there are enough violations that will result in a ban.
It can’t be any different these days.
I’m assuming that this has the side effect that Blizzard employees don’t have the time to go back as much as they want. Maybe only the last 3 months are taken into account.
IT baffles me to NO AVAIL that Blizzard BANS players for PLAYING THE GAME.
-
If they wanted a person NOT to play a certain Character for Competitive. Blizzard Should LOCK THE CHARACTER out.
-
If they wrote PROPER afk scripts, they would be able to DETECT actual AFK-throwers in game.

Essentially players HAVE been submitting complaints to the United States Federal Trade Commission about False bans from Blizzard. If it goes to a certain point. Blizzard will receive a HEFTY fine just like Facebook did. FTC doesn’t back down if the right people amount of players lodge complaints. Just ask Facebook about their BILLION+ dollar fine.

I think its an interesting predicament that Blizzard has these teamwork loving heroes: Sombra, Torb, Sym, Bastion, etc. But if you play them, you run the risk of other players reporting you until your account gets banned.
Because these players obviously want to not get banned, they do everything possible to NOT contact their team, they cut out all the team aspects they can.
This helps perpetuate all the negative stygmas these heroes already have, so nothing improves.
Its almost like an unaccountable report system is abusable and increases toxicity. In a game that needs positivity for teamwork to be possible, and teamwork is the core mechanic.
I actually dont understand how this isn’t a bigger priority, but then again, blizz wouldn’t admit to a corrupt report system until months after it gets fixed.

How about…
Don’t be a selfish one-trick?
Don’t insta-lock a hero and expect your team to build around you?
Blizzard has decided the community decides what is report-worthy. This is working as intended.

Out of all the people in this game, why is it the selfish one tricks who ruin the game for others that feel the most entitled?

I don’t believe that many people get banned for things they don’t deserve. As far as heroes picks go I’ve only played widow non stop for like 2 weeks. No warning. I’ve Mained sombra, no warning. I’ve played so many off meta heroes and have never once received a warning.
You have to really anger a ton of people to get enough reports to be banned.
If you are playing in such a way as to do that… maybe consider not doing that? I mean, you’re ruining the fun of loads of your teammates. That’s not really ok.

But some people aren’t good at a lot of heroes. And sometimes it’s not even a matter of how much time is spent, not everyone can be good at everything. If someone is being banned for playing just one hero, it feels like a personal attack than anything else…
I mean I guess some people just don’t care and want to play what they want, but other people play what they can.
I’m going to lean in the direction that you lost your account over something other than hero pick.

Why would a company that wants as many players as possible risk banning accounts for PLAYING THE GAME and losing players for good on top of getting bad press for it?
Wait up… I can already see your reply… “Blizzard bans accounts so people will buy the game again.” Right? is that what you’re thinking? This isn’t how a company works even if they want to make tons of money.
Do these idiots not know how to play with a symmetra or torb? Get good.
how is losing an account even possible because of abusive chat.
Nope, its impossible.
I don’t want to accuse you of anything but there are many factors that can contribute to losing a account, such as:
- Poor sportsmanship
- Refusing to switch when necessary
- One-tricking
- Just generally being toxic
I am sorry you lost your account and getting reported for playing your favorite hero. However I believe the problem is not that people do not like your hero pick, but rather they do not like that you are refusing to switch.
The truth is that no matter how good you are with a hero, you might have to take one for the team and play something that is more beneficial. Sometimes you gotta be the tank or the healer. Or something that negates a weakness of your team. I primarily play Brigitte, Sombra, and Wrecking Ball as my main picks for each role. However I admit that these heroes are not good for certain situations, in fact all three of them are not very good in soloing their respective roles. Thus in competitive play, I tell my teammates that I am willing to switch and play any tank or healer. I will be honest with you, I would have not won some games if they did not tell me to switch. I also mostly play solo and have never received a warning or ban.
Please answer truthfully, in the games you got reported, were you willing to switch when asked and with good sportsmanship?
Also it takes a lot of reports to lose a account, like you have to anger everyone in all your games in order to get enough.
I’d suggest you go back and re-read the posts above. Dont troll either.
Blizzard has a track record of BANNING accounts that were playing competitive play. The majority of THEIR team-mates were upset that they were NOT playing an “on-meta” character from the game, so they mass-reported them on false pretenses. Essentially Blizzard does NOT define what “disruptive gameplay is”.
- A person could be playing Competitive while INTOXICATED.
- A person could be playing Competitive while very ill (or even in the Hospital)
- A person could be playing this game while on bedrest via orders of a physician.
- A person could be so tired, that they were not concentrating.
- A network intrusion event could be happening
- A nature disaster occurred.
Essentially this is a VIDEO game. With ZERO defined main-stream rules set in place are. I agree, PLAYER quality ratings separate of game modes for competitive should be in place. As well as, if there IS a disruptive player in the game, it should be able to detect this behavior and not penalize the other team as heavily.
@WhiteSnow
So they should entirely lose their account just because they messed up? I think just locking the mode out for awhile would be FAIR enough? I mean the person DID pay the company some money to play the game, and keep our community going. by PAYING.

I am still amazed how all OTPs banned for Gameplay Sabotage always claim they are innocent and 100% of the reports are false
I mean, if there were like 10-20 reports, sure … when you have 341 reports … mate, ALL of them are false? Remember that with just ONE you are guilty and you deserve the suspension. So for this one …
To be fair that is a good idea and I would support that over outright banning. I am ok with bans as long as they go away eventually, but permanent bans are just down right unfair.
Though I am sure Blizzard is more then happy to permanently ban someone if it means they can make another $40 dollars.

no just how most of you treat others and somehow expect them to comply with your demands, verbal abuse and other things
I paid my cost to be able to play what I want when I want
and if I am hard countered and not being effective I decided that
not you
or your impression of the hero I am playing
