Jessicka might seem like a gloomy gus. But, she’s kinda right. Unless they have some super mega surprise at Blizzcon, having a lore/story discussion board doesn’t seem useful at all. With all their focus going into OWL, it’s like they realized “wait we need to show we toadally care about the lore, give them a new forum section!”

It’s like putting a bandaid where there isn’t a wound. A nice, but very useless, gesture. We can’t even call the current amount of lore a drop anymore. The most recent cinematic showed us nothing new, it only confirmed the fan theory that Hana puts on the D.Va persona for her fans and her country, and that she’s always worried behind the scenes. It didn’t advance the “plot” at all.

I want to have hope for this game’s lore and story. But right now, there’s nothing to hold on to. They’ll continue to waste resources on OWL, they won’t do anything about the smurf problem, and this game will just collapse. Sure it won’t die, but being a shambling zombie does no-one no good either.

I agree that this game has issues, but OWL isn’t the source. Talk to anyone that is more interested in the competitive side of the game when playing, or just the esport. You’ll find players getting slighted just as much, if not more, than every player in the game.

The devs attempt to balance between catering to both sides of the game and it creates a mess of frustration for everyone involved. Not saying casual is the best way to go, nor competitive. But the game would be in a far better state if they could pick one or the other rather than attempting to juggle them both.
