Lootboxes went back to being greedy

Last season felt awesome and i thought for a moment that devs would finally realize how greedy they were the lasts 2 years, only to being back to being greedy this season that MR calmed down by reducing lootboxes down to 3 per week

If they are going to keep it that low they should change them to either keep giving things you dont have or that duplicates are worth more towards another box (and that box should guarantee no more duplicates)

Seriously it feels aweful to open a new weekly box just to find all duplicates and that they barely count towards another box (which most likely has even more duplicates!!)

You don’t get duplicates unless you own everything in that tier of item, that’s fair

Last season was overly generous for long term sustainability. Even if they could stand to give more, you can’t expect them to keep it up the way last season was.

which i have everything gray and blue, and as i said they barely give any progress towards another lootbox

which is why i already proposed a solution, either the boxes stay low but they guarantee new items
or duplicates give more progress towards another box
or they give more boxes if they are gonna stay as they are

Duplicates are such a 2017 bs concept.
Why not white coins for every duplicate instead?

To be fair, the goal of the boxes is to get the yellow items, yes? In OW1, duplicates of white items gave 5 coins while blues gave 20 coins

The yellow items were what, 2000 coins? The progress towards those and towards a new lootbox now are basically equal

Only downside is that you’re rolling a box rather than buying an item directly. Either way though, it makes sense to not give lots of progress for common items.

Once again, they could stand to be more generous, but as it is it’s not completely senseless or anything.

You used to get the white coins for duplicates in OW1

Unfortunately now those coins are much less valuable, so it’s probably for the best you just get more boxes instead

not really, at least i could use white coins for new freja stuff for example or some other heores basic emotes and so on, making progress for another box that 99% will have more duplicates is worthless

You do get the white coins from the battlepass, so eh

Free too I believe

and they can be in boxes too, why are you so keen on defending blizz devs getting greedy again?

They surely make tons of money with all the new collabs

ahh ok, i thought something was up. i was wondering why i was getting less but i didnt know they reduced them. it kinda ALMOST felt like the old days now its just a trickle

heh…

still yea, its a business and its all about the $$$… supply and demand sorta thing

The boxes are more valuable than the white coins are and you get the coins guarenteed anyways without needing to own all white/blue items, I think it’s fine as is

If they were guaranteed to give new items every time i would agree, but you dont understand that right now duplicates are worthless, specially how they barely make any progress to a new boxes THAT WILL HAVE MORE DUPLICATES!!

They are guarenteed to give new items provided you roll a tier of item that has items you don’t own

That’s why you own all the blue and white items, because you didn’t get duplicates of them

ok seems you’re being daft on purpose so lets leave it at that, hope Aaron boot tastes yummy

It’s bad for old players i’m afraid.

As a new player,(i play since ow2 came), have about 300 commons with 200 uncommons.
I will get all the legendaries in a relative short time span, meanwhile people like mr.egg here will have to grind 2-3 times as much.

Poorly implemented i would say.

There needs to be more rewarding to keep people playing, more lootboxes would most certainly be welcome as 3 boxes a week is pretty damned stingy.

exactly we are back to pre-lootbox era of greedyness, like i cant even get excited for 3 measly lootboxes when i know 95% they will have useless duplicates

They were 1000. Only new legendaries were 2000, and next year had them at 1000.

It’s so hilarious because they made a post about being sorry for not taking their community serious for the time people invent in this game.

So it did felt like they actually care about player time investment when they gave 10 lootboxes a week by playing the game.

And now they took it away again.
So much for caring about player time investment. :joy:
