There are times where playing quick-play for hours on Overwatch, there’s somehow queue times that take up 2-3 mins of waiting time.
Therefore, I suggest that Overwatch now allows the Training Room to be playable (also tutorial mode) while queuing up for any game mode because it is understandable that for all game modes Overwatch tries to find matches that are balanced & of similar skill-level. But how come when waiting we cannot access the training room with all the training bots in them?
Not only that, I think it’d be also beneficial for group up queues as well since those can tend to be even longer of a queue time; imagine the whole group playing in the training room, something that has never been seen/done before.
And sure, you can kill time by going on your phone & stuff but personally I’d like to be already in a queue up & training in order to effiently use up time. Sure I’m playing Overwatch, but I just think this’d be a pretty cool option to give us players since day 1.
I just simply hate waiting for quick play matches specifically because I find them to be the most consistent method of grinding XP for events such as the new Year of the Pig/Beard 2019. Since half of the specific arcade modes usually take quite a long time to find a match, same for Competitive, and game modes like death-math don’t offer much XP due to their lack of duration per match. Also there’s an occasion where if a quickplay match ended in a “Steam-Roll”, most of everyone quits and then I’ll be sent back to the menu screen waiting & waiting not being able to train further in some sort of fashion (i.e. the Training Room). Just hope the wonderful devs allow this because it can seem pretty minor but beneficial, much love & thanks Jeff K.
There aren’t enough players. As somebody with low GM mmr, queues almost always take 3+ minutes (unless backfill), with it regularly hitting the 4-5 minute limit where the matchmaker decides to put you in the next available game regardless of balance.
Yes, the game is legitimately dying due to Blizzards bad balance changes & lack of content, hence why it is now permanently “on sale” for $20. Acti-Blizz is milking it for as much as they can before it’s gone completely.
It’s been bad for a while, especially if you play off peak hours. I know playing anything but the 3-6 pm US window means arcade, QP etc matches can take forever. Mystery Hero’s is usually fast but if you do something like Total Mayhem or the like you can be looking at 3-5 minute waits. It speeds up a bit if you keep going without leaving a match and just letting it add you to the next.
But you’ll be playing the same people over and over again…
Bronze Comp has been 5-10 minute waits for a long time now out side of that little window. Worse if you use LFG to six stack. Seriously over any thing else this is what is killing OW.
Very few games can survive having a que time longer than the time you spend playing the match. I mean the average OW game is 5-10 minutes without OT, add in the fact you waste about a minute at the start of each round for “defense Set up” it’s even worse in terms of actual play time.
I used to look at having 30 minutes free as “oh I can get a quick 2-3 matches in” now it’s like “I hope I get a match before I have to go”.
Games legit dying. Long queue times because the player base isn’t there. New event and can’t even break into top 10 games streaming on twitch. I know that’s not the say all but it should be an indication. Move to $20 is trying to get it while they can before the move to F2P. I have put more time into this game then I ever thought I would (1,200 hours or so) but I don’t see myself making it to year 4 unless some serious changes happen.
The move to $20 isn’t really the huge issue most think it is, the sign was there long before. How often was OW on sale over 2018? The lowest point being Humble Bundle for like $12. And it wasn’t a one day flash sale, it went on for like 2 weeks or something.
But OW is also bad because not only is the player base naturally shrinking as it gets older and new games come out but OW keeps splitting it’s player base. There is no such thing as “que all” or “what ever works”.
You can’t select all arcade modes, or something like QP should be anything that turns up. This means each and every different game mode makes a different que and all take longer. Arcade alone usually has what 5 game modes? Meaning you can’t do both Total Mayhem and Unlimted mode. You have to pick one.
Edit: oh and of course Comp is all divided by rank, server, etc as well.
