London spitfire was all koreans

I was just wondering, are these people london citizens, or did they just recruit/kidnap these players from korea?

Whats the point of having all of these teams if they all just recruit from korea?
OWL is only pretending to have international teams.

Well it’s like a club in sport. They don’t care about nationality when they make those teams. It’s not like the world cup.

All OWL players are kidnapped.

Because they are better then the rest of the world. If they are good, they are already taken.

That’s how sports teams work. They buy players. They don’t need to be from the Team’s home country.

is that how it works in soccer?

I’m not really into sports but yeah. Fitba is like that.

Pro sports do the same thing. The team owners will get the best players then can get and if it means going to other cities or countries then they will do it.

Yeah, I remember a lot of people complaining about Paris’s team having no french player a few years ago.

and there are canadians and russians in every US hockey team

League games ~ represent city ~ no player restrictions.

Cup games ~ represent country ~ player restrictions.

These are the rules for almost all sports.

look at the florida panthers, more than half the team is canadian
and hte americans, you can guess it, aren’t from florida

hockey isn’t an international sport. You would have to use soccer as an example.

It’s pretty much the same

fine, the houston dynamo, a SOCCER team, at least half of the roster are from south america

yes thats how it works.

the only thing local is the stadium and where locals buy tickets.

actually the long dream is for esport leagues to be worldwide and played in different cities like sports teams.
right now theyre just marketing the geographical names + adding as many local venues as possible.

give it time and dont be a boomer who doesnt understand why chess is also categorized as a “sport”

Mixed rosters are hard, no one with money cares, and most of the good Brits are locked up on other teams.

London has trash tier outreach though. NY does a masterclass level job and it shows.

Pro teams recruit the top players in the world - Russian, Ukrainian, Nigerian, German, Chinese, etc. They are a part of the team even though they are not native residents.

Korea has a HUGE culture of professional gaming, where parents and families support people going after pro gaming careers. This means Korea has a much bigger pool of potential players per capita than western countries.

I laughed too hard at this

London Spitfire is an American owned team with an all Korean roster,
as far as a lot of people are concerned, Philly Fusion is the real UK team with 3 UK players

The names are just to look cool and to try to incite “engagement” from people
