the first cinematic of OW was so insanely good. then they just abandoned any sort of good story. league capitalized so hard on their sick cinematics and made a whole series, our lore compared to that is laughable imo. anyone else stoked on that riot mmo after that?

you could write a whole book series about league lore, it’s just so deep and complex. Over watch could have definetly done the same!

i know its insane that that was just 4 of the legends. i cant wait for the mmo i hope its a gigantic world like the under city and the upper city + way more continents. im soooo hyped

as a huge league fan who actually mains the main 3 characters (Vi, Cait and Jinx) I was basically crying the whole time. can’t wait for season 2 and future regions to be animated!

i sadly never got into league but as soon as i finished the series i immediately downloaded it, im horrible at it. im really good at wow pvp so im hoping it will translate to the mmo lol
one tip I can give you, which is really simple but it was a mistake I would do often, Practise farming, last hitting and getting cs is super super imporant.
edit: and also just ignore the toxic people on there, especially if you are new. you’ll get used to it eventually but just a heads up people can be horrible on there

I’m not sure what happened with OW. I heard back in late 2017 or so, they were going to release some novel or something back then and they wrote themselves into a dead end. I then heard one of the story writers left the company or something. So, there must have been a lot of creative issues or someone in the company had contradicting ideas as to the direction of the game and it’s story. Also, the format of making 5-10 minute cinematic shorts was probably too costly and time consuming for them for the little value it gave in progressing a story; or/and they wanted to do it in another way (they did show on Blizzcon their in-game cinematic thing they’re supposedly working on).
cs means Creep score. it counts how many minions you get. the minions give you gold that’s why it’s important as even if you are behind, if you farm you might be on level as everyone on your team.
you should get around 10 cs per minute, but majority of people get less, around 7, even pro players. I was watching a video and the guy said only one pro player gets 10 cs consistently. it can be hard at first but you get the hang of it as you play
Fun fact: Arcane took six years to create. It is literally older than Overwatch.

Hasn’t LoL’s lore been retconned/re-written completely like 4 times? Overwatch’s lore might be minimal, but at least it’s got continuity.

It does go to show you don’t need gameplay to support lore.
League of Legends (at it’s core, I know there’s a lot of spin off’s now) is basically a generic MOBA where they fight on a giant floating rift. It really makes no sense.
most people dont need things like that to make sense if the gameplay is good. and it seems to be good seeing as its like #4 on twitch and OW is #50-60
Was not trying to argue League of Legends isn’t a good game – I played it for years before OW. Was just saying that they’ve generated a ton of lore that’s not even linked to their main game, which is (albeit top tier) a generic MOBA at heart with no real room for in game lore.
and yet they already outdid ow lol - i get what ur saying, but as a guy who doesnt give a f about lore. that series was outstanding and they obv care, and im hyped to go into an mmo with that series in mind
Sadly it’s not hard to out do OW at this point, one can only guess what inner turmoil is going on over there to have such a huge content draught.
It took them longer than OW has been out to outdo OW
