I tried in my placements and placed 200 sr above where I left off, so there’s definitely reason to try.

Placements are just normal games where you can’t see your SR gain/loss. Nothing magic about them.

I finished at 3K flat last season on my main account due to decay. Did placements on it yesterday. Won 5, lost 4, drew 1. Got placed 400SR higher than where I ended last season. I’ll take it.

The only thing placements do is try and get you back to your former SR if you’ve let your SR decay if you were in diamond and above.

A lot of people think placement will do miracles for them but in my experience placement will help you climb if you already played very good in games before placement.

I remember being placed im mid diamond once on mei while i was high plat on her last season. I did very well in last games of season and in placement i felt like i played bad. And yet i was placed higher 300+, so i am pretty sure placement will help to people who already should be higher but werent because of bad game with idiotic team mates or leavers. Even if they performed very well. As i noticed i already had higher ranked people in my first placement just like i was already in that sr, even when i was there based only by mmr probably and not by sr.

And other way too. If someone will not play good before placement, it will not place him higher even when he did good in placement.

As i explained in post above this one, i dont think its true. I had 5/5 result snd still climbed more than 300 sr from placement, it doesnt work as normal games. I see placement as a tool to bring your sr closer to your mmr.
