Genji is just dang hard to kill, between deflect/dash. It wouldn’t be so bad, but Nano-blade means my support backline is going to get destroyed and there’s about 0 things I can do about it as a tank.
That’s my main issue with him.

Thank you 🥲
For me there are 2 reasons why I don’t like genjis. First, and the most memed about, is their constant call for healing. Annoying af. Second, the skill floor for genji is pretty high and most people who pick him, frankly, can’t play him for beans. Also annoying af.
Forum already has been complaining about Tracer more than Genji for a while even though Tracer is less popular.
Supports just don’t want to be pressured and want to be heal/utility bot all day everyday.
I also don’t understand why people hate him so much. People hate the enemy genji because he’s op but hate having him on their team? I never understood that. I play a lot of support which makes me understand way less. Specially with mercy. I think she’s pretty easy to get away from genji with. I’m just an average player but genji is usually not a problem for me
“Pick Ana pick Ana why don’t you pick ana you’re throwing insert slurs here”
Spends 90% of the game dead, has a minor panic attack when Ana nanos literally anyone else.
Actively dashes out of LoS and flames you for not healing
Those are a few examples.
It’s more like supports actually want to do their job.
You have to keep in mind that when supports are being dove, we literally cannot heal our teammates at the same time. We have to have our attention turned to trying to survive.
That’s two ultimates invested into a team fight.
It is easily counterable if your team also invests two Ults to stop the Nano-Blade.
Rally, Trance, or Beat can singularly shutdown a Blade. Grav, Flux, Shatter, Whole Hog, and Primal are also strong options.
Then there’s zoning Ults like Minefield, Self Destruct, High Noon, and Molten Core which can work if your team shifts to the objective the fight you think they’ll Nano-Blade.
There’s plenty of counter play, you just have to invest at least one, if not two Ultimates the same way they are.
I agree Genji is nowhere near being broken.
But saying he wasn’t overtuned in 2020? Flagged as troll, seriously.
What the hell is this?
Maybe it’s his mobility, or nano blade, like someone mentioned.
It’s usually supports who hate Genji, he’s ultra mobile with his wall climb, that’s the only thing I mildly hate against Genji and Hanzo.
They can panic climb.
I get people hate a character, which is fine, hate a character you find annoying. I dont fault for you for that, i hate certain heroes and you hate certain heroes? Cool. What i despise is people thinking hes some problematic, unstoppable, meta OP hero that deserves nerfs (often times harsh nerfs that can ultimately ruin the character’s kit and viability). On the objective standpoint of the character, he’s by far no means problematic and op as people make it out to be. Especially in the game’s state right now and how his counterparts can do his job far better and safer.
That’s what I said. Most supports want to do their job without no danger involved. They might not mind a little thrill to get their adrenaline flowing but against real danger? No thx dawg.
But, it’s not like supports don’t have heroes that can “do their job” while dealing with flankers. Zen and Lucio, but dealing with flankers as them have another problem many supports hate.
Let’s buff supports to the point where they have as big of an advantage against flankers as flankers currently do against supports and you’ll understand why people don’t like dealing with it.
Oh wait. We did. She’s called brig. And all flankers cried fowl and threw fits over her and still do to this day.
Most of the (reasonable) hate comes from him being super annoying with a bloated kit. It isn’t actually reflective of his power level.
As a mostly support main, I’ve had very few genjis like that in my games. For me its usually an ashe flaming that I don’t pocket her or the other support mad that I don’t switch to a more meta healer. Or the rein in the open with his shield down reporting everyone for throwing because he died and its obviously everyone else’s fault. Or everyone flaming me because they don’t want a zen. Most genjis I’ve gotten don’t have mics or do anything notable tbh. Not horrible, not great. I’ve only seen that behavior consistently in the forums and YouTube comps about toxicity.
I can see this happening in OW2 ngl. but instead, i just see only dmg boosted blade being nerfed. Maybe the rest of his kit would make him good and fair.
People dislike the mobile heroes in general, and genji has a kit that is meant to be really annoying.
Shocking people dont like having him in their matches, shocking I tell you.
For me its many things a slot of which is just bias but still.
I hate his astheitc of a cyborg ninja the concept is just crime to me.
I hate his playstyle, I’ve always hate high mobility based strategy’s they always seem very unfair and is a design trap just waiting to happen is Devs cater to it too much.
I hate his personality, he goes through ever generic heart throb persona going from playboy womaniser to dark and broody to care free and full wisdom and himself.
I hate his story I legit feel if hanzo actually killed him it would hanzos story’s better and prove that mercy can’t save everyone that comes to her making her more interesting
Nowadays it’s like that because most Genji players are mains.
Back when Genji was meta and random people were playing him that was your experience with 90% of Genjis. That’s where a lot of the stereotypes about him come from.
And yet i hear people advocate nerfing many other things other than that combo, even harsh nerfs at that. I find that hilarious at the least. Even though that combo is the only thing that keeps genji viable in this day and age, yet people wanna destroy the character entirely but never touch the nanoblade portion.
Annoying to deal against, unless you re an anti genji hero but still annoyed when you commit a single mistake.
His Fanbase loves to threat people to kill themselves, scratch someone IRL etc.
and many more… i have no other thing to say about him.
