So Riot is disabling all chat in LOL. Which means you can no longer communicate with the enemy team outside of emotes.
Their reason is that while it can be used to give compliments, it is more often used to be toxic. Thus it does more harm than good.
Considering how OW is as toxic as LOL, maybe it would a good idea to disable communicating with the enemy for us too.

I got some weirdo telling me he Hog diffed me even though I got him in more 1v1’s and he always needed his entire team to kill me. That hurt me more than GGEZ. Because obviously the game was easy, they were rolling us. But he claimed dominance over the Pig playing like a complete beta. Disgusting.
Idk, it’s funny to see the kinds of things people say. I know that if someone calls me out, I start to perform better cause I get VERY serious. That said, I’ll also ignore people I don’t respect for one reason or another.
Don’t like the idea. Yes there is toxicity but there’s also positive things like jokes, banter, GG. And sometimes it’s also a good place to vent some frustration you have in the match (not necessarily toxicity).
They already gave us the option to disable all chats. Options menu, social, chats to off. Only thing I’m still in is voice. And for some very strange reason people are a LOT less toxic or randomly trolly/vulger in voice chats.
I already did myself. I suggest you do the same. You don’t need the company to do it for you if they give you the option.

In lol all chat can be disabled and afaik is disabled by default.

I agree. Though I leave it on because while the toxicity I find annoying, it is worth the annoyance for the humor I see in it.
A thought though. Maybe handle it the opposite way. Have it off as the default and have the option to turn it on. Much like private profiles. It might reduce toxicity from many people assuming that few are reading it anyway.

ummm. overwatch comes nowhere close. even if there is someone toxic in an overwatch match, you only have to endure their childish antics for 15 minutes. League games can easily reach 40 mins.
