On the PTR, (And even on live) all the lights that are supposed to be added at higher ‘Lighting Quality’ settings aren’t there. Like there is none, not even in the practice range. Lighting quality is supposed to add lights, Blizzard you gotta bug to fix!
EDIT: Ok to fix this you must delete your settings folder and change it back to normal
Another Edit: Ok well now the lighting quality setting won’t work no matter what I do to fix it. Devs please fix this bug my game looks ugly.
Yes yes yes. I have been wondering what happened to the look of this game. Look back at vods a year or so ago and it looks so much better. It seemed like the lighting had been ‘normalised’ or something across all maps. Every setting a tried just didn’t make the game look like it used to. I thought Blizzard just did something under the hood to make it look sort, I don’t know how to put this, “standard” for Overwatch League.
Then I thought about maybe it could be some setting that doesn’t work anymore. I immediately thought it was lighting quality, because I don’t know what that actually means. You would think it would add some lighting to the game or change how bright things are. For example I knew that when I went from lower to higher settings weapon effects lit up a small area of the map where they were set off. You would think that’s a lighting quality thing but it’s actually registered under effect detail. Bizarre. Anyway, I went to test lighting quality in game to see if I could see a difference. I took screenshots of different maps, outdoors and indoors, at both low and ultra settings, and I couldn’t see any difference at all. So it must be that lighting quality is bugged and doesn’t do anything anymore and that’s why the game looks a bit ‘grey’.
This is just speculation but I really think this is the cause of the game looking different.
