Can’t say I’ve been too thrilled with the Lifeweaver skins so far. About half of them seem to be just a thematic re-colour of the default, not including the default re-colours. I was really looking forward to what the Halloween skin would be and, sadly, it’s a bargain-bin version of the Will-o-wisps Tracer. Could we get more traditional/authentic Thai-themed skins please? Those are something I’d be willing to spend money on.

His design is kind of awkward to work around, especially with the petals which give him a distinctive silhouette. It’s going to take a while designers to hit on something good for him. Zarya had a similar issue early on.

It’s easy to make skins for heroes like Reinhardt and Reaper - masks, armor, helmets….
You can let your fantasy run wild.
But Weaver? Not easy in my opinion.

If it is so easy, why does Reaper have so many bad skins?
Do not get me wrong, he has some baller skins, absolutely. But these cats made his dracula skin some sort of alien mecha. You could definitely argue they let their imaginations run wild… To a fault. And that BMX skin? Oh lawd have mercy on our repugnant black souls. An attempt was made.

I agree with the Thai skins, but honestly? I’ve liked every skin that’s come out. I think there just need to be more legendaries. Black swan is probably the weakest of the post-release ones, but I think it’s overhated. I really like Synthwave; it has a unique interaction with his gold blossom that none of his other skins have (so does Ghostbloom, but in a different way). I think it’s cool that they got creative with the gold weapon for his blossom. Like really, if you have Synthwave and another epic LW skin, look at the gold blossom vs every other skins’ gold blossom. It looks great.

I had a screenshot on hand! If you look at the blossom itself, there’s gold edging not present on other skins.

The beauty of Lifeweaver is that his base design is very aesthetically pleasing. He is one of the rare characters that can live off of epic skins.

I’m a sucker for the skins that give him dark hair tbh; it instantly elevates the skin for me. I need to grab lotus if it ever comes back to the shop.

You are right, I am a basic. I want my Dracula to look like a vampire and for my BMX to look like a biker. For people who wanted a Dracula skin that does not look like Dracula or a BMX skin that does not look like a biker… I could see them enjoying these skins.

His design space is a bit more limited compared with eg Mercy as there are a huge variety of things with wings that make for great skins. Flowers not so much.

I think the petals could be altered in a way that they’re thematically different but you get that they’re still there/part of the design. For example, the duck pool donut on the BeachRat skin for Junk.
Probably, but the cosmetics designers seem to be struggling with his silhouette. They’ll figure it out eventually.
Agreed. The new epic skin just looks very pleasant and even has a blue flower. Works much better with the golden weapon than the cleric one to.

I like all of his legendary skins except for Phi Ta Kon (I think that’s how its spelled). When it comes to his skins I think that the lack of effort to customize his Petal Platform and Tree of Life is disappointing. Symmetra, Illari, AND Torb all have skins that also change the look of their deployables and there’s Lifeweaver who just gets a pretty pink platform that is not fitting whatsoever for his skin.
I get that it has to be distinguishable for his teammates, but you can easily work around that to make platform fitting for his legendary skins.
…I HATE his hair so much, literally the only thing about him I dislike.
THISSS I LOVE the golden trim on the blossom. It is easily the best looking golden skin for any of the blossoms and I wish we had more intricate golden designs for them.
I agree. it should also be considered that that flower is part of an emoting, they must be very careful to respect the proportions and the need to give it 5 points.
they could aim to give it a more aggressive design, converting the petals into blades. or something highly playful like Illari’s pajama skins, perhaps converting the flower into a star. Or even give it some light effects that aren’t exactly solid, like Pharah’s wings for Inarius. one flaw I see is that they don’t play with her hair enough, they definitely need to take advantage of that part of her aesthetic, not just the facial makeup.
the options for a legendary skin other than the flower concept are still wide. Or at least, much more than those granted by characters who find it extremely difficult to stand out aesthetically (like Baptiste).
I agree. They could make LW petals be made of fire for instance.
The petals could be shaped so that the back piece looks like a spider web for a halloween skin.
The petals could look like the red baywatch life preservers floaty thingies for a summer beach skin.
For winter wonderland the whole backpiece could look like a snowflake.

Tbh, I don’t think his silhouette/petals are that difficult to get creative with. They don’t necessarily have to be turned into a “thing” related to the skin; they can just be complimentary to the aesthetic. Or, you can do, like…
-butterfly wings!
-elements: fire, water droplets, coiled vines
Cleric made them shields, which I think is a great creative application.
I’ll even spotlight a few cool concepts just to show off—spider reminds me that we really need a Deathweaver skin lol it seems so obvious. He could be a lich.
I love that Ghostbloom has a unique golden blossom.
