Both heroes suck in their roles, devs never address them, give them meaningless buffs or buff them to then nerf them when they aren’t even meta. Lifeweaver most fun support but feels horrible to play due horrible charge time + dps passive.
Kinda wondering what Poytheons take on this subject is
Starting to think blizzard wants heros popularly in the lgbt crowd to suck on purpose at this point
I think Symmetra is worse tbh. Weaver is outshined by Moira pretty hard atm, but at least his pull offers something unique and useful.
Have you met Tracer?
Good, he feels horrible to play with thanks to life grip. If he actually felt good to play and more people played him the game would suffer more.
My guy, no. They just failed utterly at making LW a good hero design for the game. That’s a failure, not malicious intent.
Also, Tracer is gay. Currently top of meta.
Hell Bap is bi. I’m 90% sure Mercy and Pharah are canonically gay as well.
And makes the game worse. I think I’d take Sym.
Tracer is gay, but is not a character the lgbt players like. There is a difference
I said heros popular in the lgbt crowd, not lgbt HEROS Lol
Clearly they don’t mind that… considering the balance state of soldier and tracer
But sym and LW are super popular among lgbt players, and coincidentally are serial trash eternally. When either is even half decent they are nerfed into oblivion.
It’s apparent reading the several other replies that 4th grade reading level classes are needed in the overwatch community.
Do you have a source for that?
I like her, my friends in that crowd like her. The hate I see for her is either:
- People that hate that she’s gay.
- People that dislike her being so incredibly strong.
Tracer, Bap, Pharah, Mercy. Tracer is top tier, Mercy is struggling a bit, Pharah is overperforming in mid rank, Bap is doing well for himself.
Pharmercy is more popular.
And LW is a terrible hero design that is worse than the sum of his parts.
And it’s apparent that the people that design hero kits for gameplay need to do some more study if you look at Life Grip.
People complain when Sym has strong turrets.
People complain when LW is strong because we get two things:
- A sustain meta (which no one except LW players like).
- Lots of life grippers. Which causes toxicity and frustration.
There are reasons for them to be panned by the devs that don’t devolve to “They are gay so the devs dislike them.”
Artistic industries are famously forward thinking and inclusive. All about self-expression. If anything it should be fascinating to you that these heroes representing niche communities aren’t strong.
You need to ask “Why would the devs not make them strong?” And the answer is, they make the game worse when they are. Sym because they allocate the power to the wrong place. and LW because his abilities are terrible for toxicity and cause rifts between players.
I’d add Mercy to this list.
No mercy is mostly straight woman territory with exceptions
I’d add Zarya as well. Not many of them rank but when they do, Zarya is a top choice.
Sym
LW
Mercy
Zarya
So far from what I remember
Well anything is gonna be mostly straight people. There aren’t many of us lgbt people in existence in comparison Lol.
But among the existing lgbt players, mercy is a super high favorite for the support players (of which there are many)
Now with LW they got some variety.
When they dps they go sym and occasionally sombra if feeling spicy.
Tanking is almost exclusively Zarya, but once in a while a bold gay gets super dangerous with dva.
Baby girl ima say it one more time
Hero’s POPULAR to the lgbt community
Not hero’s who ARE lgbt
95% of the time a hero is a favorite pick among actual lgbt players (regardless of the identity of the hero), they are serially trash balance wise and constantly nerfed out of meta into seriously niche or troll picks
Bizarrely, the actual lgbt heros are routinely broken to hell and back.
Tracer is queen of the entire game, soldier is absurdly ridonkulous easy mode baby first hitscan overtuned, pharah utterly demands you pick from a small portion of the cast or you lose at the hero select screen, baptiste for a very long time was simply the best duelist in the game in the support role and you just die mad about it (and his immortality cause go to hell I guess)
But again I wasn’t talking about lgbt heros
I go mei most of the time.
But sombra also spraks to me in a way.
For me it’s D.Va…
D.Va is so much fun to play.
I thought you where going to say they’re both pretty, and weird.
im not surprised tbh
My guy. Sym is nerfed because people do not enjoy playing against her. the solution to this is to move power away from her turrets. What they are struggling with is buffing her back in a way that doesn’t cause more frustration.
Life Weaver. Well.
Life Grip is a toxic addition to the game that encourages backseating and causes so, so many arguments. It has not positively impacted the game in any capacity.
When Life Weaver is strong, we end up in a sustain meta. We see more people playing him which use life grip. People who main Life Weaver literally give new LW players the advice of “Do not enter into any chat, you will be on the receiving end of endless frustration with your grips” because it controls teammates.
It’s almost as if the devs at blizzards are…
You know, supportive of the LGBT community and are only nerfing the lgbt heroes that negatively impact the game. Because y’know, trying to make sure that frustrating heroes don’t drive people away is kind of their job.
You’re trying to claim a bias against the lgbt community, but when looking at lgbt heroes who are consistently strong and top tier, you claim “We’re not talking lgbt heroes”
You know, heroes that are made to represent a niche community you’re complaining of being discriminated against here.
You can say “But these are the ones that are popular with the lgbt community.”
But do you have proof of that? I see more love for Sym from the Autistic community (Hi, I have been formally diagnosed for 19 years now), and more from the neurodivergent community. I see more thirst for LW from just… Everyone who likes stereotypical pretty boys?
Like, Pharah and Mercy as a pairing is the most popular and well known pairing in the game. For a reason. They are insanely popular and the sheer amount of fanart for them as a gay couple is immense.
If you wanna be angry about LW, be angry that they did such a bad job designing his kit, making it inherently toxic and generally terrible for a team-based game where you’ve now implemented a character that has the ability to override their teammates autonomy. That’s not teamwork that’s dictatorship disguised as teamwork. Be angry that they refuse to rework him into a better kit that could be strong and top tier without causing serious problems for the game.
Because right now the best thing for the game is for LW to be bottom tier, because when his pickrate raises, the game becomes more toxic, and less fun. The opposite of what impact we want for heroes that represent commonly oppressed communities. Especially the LGBT community that so commonly has bigots going “Don’t force it on me” and Blizzard went and made a character that literally forces you to do what he says.
Quite possibly one of the dumbest stereotypes they ever could have played straight (pun unintended). Because it’s a harmful one.
Honestly Lifeweaver after the dps passive nerf doesn’t feel so terrible like before, I usually play him aggressively. He’s a better poke hero than Symmetra.
From close, he quickly deals a lot of damage and being 275hp (+50hp with dash) you shouldn’t be excessively scared to face someone in a 1v1 from time to time and you always have the petal to escape.
Symmetra on the other hand is just in the gutter. She simply doesn’t survive enough to do consistent damage and is terrible in every 1v1 except if she has a full charged beam and a pocket.
A lot of problems with Lifeweaver can be boiled down to heal botting in a DPS anti-heal meta. Then when the heals aren’t sufficient people will just say he sucks. Well damage is another equally useful part of his kit.
And just like Symmetra, people ignore the best and most efficient use of his kit just becausethey don’t want to use it. Thats not a hero problem.
