When Junkrat’s skin for Le Sserafim collab was out they considered it a “legendary skin” we could get for free yet all that was different on that skin was the colours on the default OW2 skin, the hair and the hat.
In today’s trailer of Cowboy Bebop collab it has been shown that we will be getting once again…a “legendary skin” for Wrecking Ball but all that changes there is once again the colours of its basic default OW2 skin.
On the collab skin for One Punch man, the skin we got for free was just a recolour of the Kamen Rider skin that was already in a previous battle pass. Still considered legendary but barely any effort was putted there.
Various items in the shop are also considered legendary yet they are just recolours like that Mime skin of Moira.
I second this, I haven’t spent money in overwatch since the Watch point pack. But you better believe I’m getting the entire bundle. I’m not even that big of a fan of cowboy bebop. But the level of detail the devs put into those sombra, Ash, and Mauga skins! Honestly if this was another terrible shot at the bad Genos Genji skin, I would’ve passed yet again. But I have to give credit where credit is due. If credit means $50, then sign me up. I do hope the money I’m giving, helps bring more rank updates and changes to further competitive play. But if I’ve learned anything in these 7 years of Overwatch, these devs more than often don’t have a clue what’s going on.
They believe you’re stupid because you keep logging in and giving them playtime metrics whilst probably buying skins and battle passes. If you don’t want to appear stupid to them, don’t buy anything or play the game.
Blizzard stated many many years ago that the way they defined the skin rarity was pretty arbitrary and didn’t follow any specific guidelines. In this case the legendary status is likely tied to it’s time exclusivity, not the number of model/texture changes required.
It’s a free skin, why does it matter what rarity they consider it?
