Welcome,
To my meme talk.
Q: Why are you reading a review from a silver player?
A: Because noone else is doing it.
As a Reinhardt player i happen to watch a lot of Flats, he is about as perfect a shield bot as you can be.
Which is to say that any player that is better then him does not play him in the same way.
Enter LHCloudy,
The most apparent aspect of LHCloudy’s gameplay is his penchant for focusing 1 hero in the enemy team.
Whether that is the main tank or something squishie in the backline he will forego his shield duties to focus it.
He achieves this largely with positioning, giving himself the freedom to select what he will chase keep in mind this happens more when he is playing defense.
He also is not above solo shattering, as his style relies on getting picks.
You dont need shatter to outplay a mirror if the enemy team doesnt have a Reinhardt.
I would describe his gameplay as being down a shield tank, where the enemy team deludes themselves into believing they can gain easy picks utilizing poke whilst both your supports are still up.
And you as Reinhardt have found the backline with full hp + all cooldowns + shatter.
While i claim that he is not a great shield bot, he does utilize another main tank trait.
Shotcalling,
he has great shotcalling which consists here of;
- Relaying rotations.
- Asking for teamwork.
- Asking for hero swaps.
While watching him you get a great sense of his theory on what will win him the game due to what he asks of his team.
He rarely goes for a charge in a mirror but will do it against an Orisa even if she is fortified.
From here he will hold shield and wait out the duration of fortify while his team prevents anything from flanking him.
In mirrors he has an almost super human sense for when he needs to retreat due to him being low on hp.
He doesnt do anything special in poke phase, when he calls for a push he tends to bypass the mirror and goes for cleave damage on the backline with hammer swings eventually retreating after say 3 swings after the enemy Reinhardt begins to swing on him.
At this stage something is usually low enough on hp to die to firestrike or an enemy player will get out of position somehow.
Enemies getting out of position as i mentioned above tends to happen far more then you would imagine, which as i said prior he will beeline for to focus as well as calling this out to his team.
While this is not happening in the stream i am currently watching, i have noticed in the past that on defense he will chase all the way to spawn if the only enemys alive are squishies.
All in all thats all i have noticed that seems to differentiate him from other Reinhardt players, you see his unique brand of gameplay the most when he is playing defense koth maps.
There is just enough craziness and random positioning that he can take advantage of to go full meme- lord.
