Well Blizzard is an American company so what you gonna do. But what attracted me to the game was that the heroes were from all over the world. This year, we didn’t explore any new country or race.
I Dont fully get why we only have 1 character of mixed ethnicity (something that is REALLY getting to me lately) especially when that aspect of her Lore was accidental. Its like everyone is like permanently only allowed to have children with someone of the same race in videogames

HAH, yeah, I think it all boils down to mixed race characters not being trendy, and hard to sell as a whole.
Truth be told I’m glad they did that with pharah even though it was sort of an add on.
I’m Irish/Egyptian so it was nice to know I was (sort of represented) but I can promise you boys with tanned skin and crystal green eyes are a gold mine haha!
Edit: I feel like a mixed character could enrich the lore a little too, like this fable liao character could have had an american lover and that child spawned from that relationship could naturally link the lore of whatevers happening in china(?) in the OW universe to whats happening in America.
Mixed characters are definitely cool in my book. Though I want them to freaking explore new countries. It’s been almost 3 years and we don’t have some basic trendy countries like Italy represented. And I would like them to represent smaller countries like, I don’t know, Andorra? Finland? Czech Republic?
The teams that do well in the cup and league should definitly have representation at the very least. How in the heck we dont have a canadian hero is beyond me. like yeah, we have Pharah. But really?

But like, with Finland (I’m from Finland lölolol) the problem is that Sweden and Norway tend to hog up all the northern European representation. Because we have Sweden, there’ll never be a Finnish, or a Norwegian hero. So sad.
But I guess part of it is also that they have put their ‘’ hearts ‘’ into getting native speakers to voice the characters. And finding those talents can be harder than expected.
Oh damn. Just realised… Everyone wants D.Mon as a hero too so thats probably another lady hero we see before another guy hero!

Today though? People are ganging up on people who are disappointed about Ashe being a DPS hero, and those posts get downvoted to heck. I definitely think that because she is a hot lady, that she gets a pass. If it was a male DPS, people would be up in arms, I’m sure.
And even if there are Finnish characters, they are usually more Swedish than Finnish.
At least people know Finland exists and where it is! That’s something. You also have league and world cup players. I could imagine a Finnish hero coming eventually.
Well maybe in the Overwatch community, and in eSports communities in general, since we have a lot of promising eSports stars rising. Outside of that, probably not!
God, if they make a Finnish hero, I hope they don’t make them a sourpuss drunkard. A shy, modest person would be more accurate.

Its a shame really, it looks like a beautiful place, I passed through there on my Euro trip. maybe if no hero anytime soon, then a map at least with the rep your getting from esports.
I definitly feel like its easier to add lady characters because at least the people (straight boy/ gay girls) who dig them (looks wise) are less likely to hate on them immediately for being a certain role. Honestly if the new character was D.mon or Echo and not whatever Ashe is, I would have been all “my queen” but all that has come of this is futher Mchanzo bashing and a very average fortnite looking character with a basic backstory that hasnt enriched the lore in anyway shape or form.
