The looking for team option was supposed to make matchmaking for us solo q players much better… Instead due to lack of being able to enforce “VC requirements” it’s making things horrible on console. I had 8 matches left to do my qualifications before the season is over any I typically had been playing 5-6 stack with my friends but they’ve all been busy at work so I saw the LFT as a great opportunity. I flex and am fairly decent in most heroes. However picking 1 role and sticking with it without the aide of enforcing voice chat ruined my games. I joined groups where “mic required” was ticked on. But I can’t communicate with anyone while they are setting up BEFORE a match (in lobby) and its not until you are at the hero select screen (match already started) that you finaly realize who on the team actually has a freaking mic… 6/8 times I played only 1 other person did and we are playing comp so you can’t really boot someone from comp because that’s also messed up… Almost every time I got stuck in a non-flexing team that did not communicate despite “mic required” being part of the criteria. Mics should be able to be used from LFT lobby while assembling your team rather than once the game has already started in hero select screen just to alow us who want VC to boot anyone who joins without a mic. I’m composing this on my phone right now but I’d go into detail all my match making sucked by design since now I was forced into a role And when we needed a Pharah or Sombra or So forth I couldn’t communicate with anyone to ensure they heard me to make the necessary switch… It wasn’t until I lost all my matches that I decided to no go into a group enforcing roles when they were likely not going to have mics despite the requirement… Is there no way for console to just check that the player has a mic? Whenever I plug in my mic my console notifies me there’s a mic attached I figured blizzard could use that to verify mics
I too play on PS4, but I’ve had a great time with LFG. You can’t require someone to talk, but if the group requires mics then everyone will be in voice chat so they can hear you. Even if there’s only one or two other people talking, I make callouts for the whole team and from my experience most people listen (i.e. Soldier top left high ground, Reaper flanking behind, focus Moira she’s low and discorded, Widow’s low top right DVa dive her)
Not asking for people to talk but I was under the impression that when you went into a team that had a mic icon “REQUIRED” meant mics REQUIRED not optional. I see some groups where it says optional. But I didn’t join any of those groups. Being able to enforce a role then they should also be able to enforce a mic. BTW Fritz you played competitive like that?
