Level insults are the weirdest thing

Today I again had a triggered Hanzo that we as a team needed to talk of the ledge about 5 times cause he kept getting angry, giving up and going afk.
We managed to win the game but the guy was still angry and went on a rant about how our other dps has played this game for a thousand hours and is still plat, and how horrible he must be at the game.
The guys level was 104.
I dont get these people, why? what?
If hes on a smurf account, you really have no ground to stand on to complain about other peoples levels, why? Because they didnt buy new accounts?what?
And if you actually are a level 100, how are you this jaded and toxic already? You barely played this game and youre already giving up and losing it and insulting players for playing longer than you?
I honestly dont get it.

Because people think gaining game experience and ranking up should be as linear as leveling up your portrait.

Which it isnt.

Which is stupid.

I hope that mentality dies down.

most players who go on epic rants are hard stuck players who bought a 2nd account and thought it would “solve everything”. Only to find in most cases it solved nothing.

So they are really prissy about it.
Plus if it wasn’t one’s border it would their rank or hero pick or hours on certain heroes etc. The sort of player looking to do those sort of pokes will just find something, being it’s not focused on the current in game actions.

one of the rules of small talk and being charming is if it did not happen to all of us in the last 5min or so, no one cares. Same thing with pokes in Overwatch. Call out a bad play or bad plan if one must but anything based off the last 1000+ games played or 1000+ levels or 6+ seasons etc is pointless.

This.

Its amazing how stupid or flawed logic/reasoning extends. The learning curves are logarithmic, not linear. You can spend 1000h learning different heroes and get to level 700 and still be at the same rank.

Also playing with friends in QP and Arcade gives a brutal amount of XP, just because someone is X level it doesn’t mean that he is hard stuck in a rank playing comp all day.

It’s pretty much this. Actual low level players usually don’t know enough about the game/are too casual to start insulting people over level. It’s literally one of the most desperate attempts at being toxic.

As long as so many people make smurfs/alt accounts, this mentality will stay, because they keep the average player level down. Imagine if everyone would only have one account. The majority would likely have a silver border already.

this is a valid report. and move on.

He is toxic.
However having +5000H into the game and still in plat is something I do not understand for me these people don’t try to improve and just play for fun wich is not really good in a competitive environment.

But being toxic is always and should be always punished.

You’re also being toxic.

It’s just opinion man, it’s like people saying one trick are selfish and should be banned of competitive, I do not support this at all.

However playing for fun is not punished of course.

People improve at different rates.

I’m a slow mechanical learner. I need like 80-100 hours on a character to be great with them. People need to understand that not everybody grows at the same pace, and it doesn’t mean these people suck. They are just different.

I’ll probably be gold portrait and plat. I don’t care, as long as I’m improving.

@Wilkham I mean, who are you to judge where a player should be based on the amount of hours they dedicated to the game lol. Such a petty perspective.

and it’s a toxic one.

I agree, however you’re learning all the heroe so it is normal that you have a lot of hours into the game.

Welp, I found the guy that makes fun of high levels in plat.

I don’t support toxicity and I always say it should be punished.
You just find a different opinion than yours.

I don’t make fun of anyone except my self, and I’m not blaming anyone here.

It’s almost tragic that you need to spell this out for people since the phrase is learning curve, and curves are typically understood to be a non-linear line.

As someone who has a pile of broken tech sitting right next to me (which includes the remains of 4 headsets, 2 keyboards, a bunch of earbuds, and a cracked window), I can tell you right now that in my opinion, most of the Blizzard community is a bunch of angry trolls.

And I’m slowly becoming one of them.

Seriously, if Blizzard wants players to return to WoW/Overwatch/insert preferred Blizzard game here, the first thing they should do is break free of Activision, then go on a major sweep of all Blizzard forums and gaming communities and permaban all the trolls, all the spammers, and all the people who help build the stereotype of gamer living in parent’s basement. Then they should go through and permaban anyone else who helps the idiotic politicians in Washington push their “video games make you dumber/more violent/more immature” argument and who help those same politicians push laws that make video games illegal in the USA.

Does that answer your question?

Confirmed.

Ive gotten the “hard stuck gold at such a high level?!?!!!” more times than I can count.
Meanwhile, if they took the time to actually look at my profile, i play maybe 15 comp games a season.

On the otherside, ill win arcades and qps and get “omg… I just lost to a LOW GOLD player!!!” or accused of throwing in comp down to my rank.

People never gonna be happy. Nothing you can really do about it. So i just play the game, ignore them, and have fun

It’s just another scapegoat rationalization for angry little crybabies to throw tantrums and diaper-fill about :man_shrugging:t2:

Sounds like that Hanzo needs some warm sweet milk and a nap :baby_bottle::baby:t3:

I don’t judge anyone here.
I just say my opinion because this is the forum and everyone have a place to say, I respect all opinions and players here.
Plus if you say that I have a “Petty perspective” you’re also judging my opinion at a personal level.

I remember one time finding someone with 15 000H diamond border who still gold since season 2.
He tell me he was just playing for fun and chilling.

I don’t say every people are like him, I just say that if someone is in X low ranks with a lot of hours at a certain point it’s not only because people have different improving rate.

At a certain point when you do something repetitively you just won’t stop improving, it’s in the human nature and it work for everything. So my point is that not everyone take the game seriously.

(Nothing toxic here).

Tbh I will add that people in this game seem to never take into account, that gaming set up (aka what you can afford or have) and health issues have a pretty solid impact on what a person can do and play in the game.
