Level 100 minimum for comp

Every game I have ever played there has always been a reason to “level up/progress”. Not every game allows you to do ALL content the moment you start the game for the first time.

Weather it’s to unlock a new feature, a new quest line, new maps, etc.

WoW requires you to be a certain level for specific dungeons/raids.
HoTS only gives you a few champions to play until you play enough to gain enough in game currency to unlock new champions.
Diablo III requires you to be lvl 70 before you can play greater rifts.
CoD requires you to level up to unlock new guns
etc etc etc

Overwatch does have a lvl 25 minimum to play comp but I think it should be raised to 100

I think it would provide a much better comp experience and less incentive for people who are frustrated with their current rank from getting away with buying a new copy of the game.

or maybe I’m just frustrated when I see Diamond players who are under level 30.

P.S. I also think d/c & leaver players should be punished by not being able to que for comp for 4h.

Your first part is contradictory because you are saying overwatch allows you to play all the content from the start which it doesn’t as you state.

I’m glad Overwatch isnt like every other game you have played where I have to grind to unlock parts of the game. That’s like saying you can’t play quick play until you have unlocked every mode in arcade (that specific game mode might be dead and take ages to level on). Or you can’t play widow because you haven’t unlocked the hero yet and just lose the map due to not being able to duel her etc.

It takes a while to LVL to 25 as is and raising it to 100 would do nothing. People use bots to LVL and this wouldn’t change a thing as plenty of people would still be selling pre levelled accounts.

A diamond player under LVL 30 is nothing special. He is ranking up an alt account and not throwing the game or doing anything wrong. Or so I assume from what you said.

DC/leavers do get penalised and the penalty increases up to season bans.

Lvl 100 is too much, 50 would be enough.

Sorry but you are mistaken. As I said, I would raise it to only 50 to eliminate majority of players who create alts for deranking/smurfing. Just to clarify.

If you would raise lvl to 100, nobody would create alts to smurf as time to do it is not wort it. Lvl 100 is like 100 hours of play time. Do you seriously think someone would do that? I can hardly believe that. Its not wort to waste 100 hours to have few hours fun with smurfing. Or to sell accounts. It is simply too much time wasted.

Leveling bots you say? Not really, bots would be banned long before they could ever reach lvl 100.

I wouldn’t say it it would do nothing. It surely would make some players avoid playing the game at all.
It would be a really hard hit against smurfs.

And, it would make sure that at least those players that do not onetrick from the start, get to know more about the characters and maps.

But 100 is too high. Rising it to 40 - 50 would be fine.

Pity we’ll never find out who is correct

I know plenty of players who play on alts, I use them myself. I dont know anyone who would be willing to level up alt or smurf to lvl 100. I would certain not do it. Leveling new acc is hell and nobody who has no alts understand how boring it is.

And blizz can actualy implement req level on new accounts, why not? Its actualy really easy and effective solution.

It would solve several issues at once.

That would just cause the price of bronze comp accounts to go up, nothing more.

thus eliminating the problem…

$250 might change some peoples’ minds. If people are willing to spend dumb amounts of money, theres people willing to spend time doing dumb stuff to get it.

Paying 250 for few hours of smurfing is not worth it

Isn’t the main premise of this game the competitive gameplay…?

it will just increase interest for powerleveling and will provide even more smurfing caused by Streisand effect.
ppl spend thousands of dolars to play this game the way they want, and you will not interrupt it by increasing just a price of powerleveling from 25 to 100 lvl.

50 would be a good start imo. Not sure if streamers and others would simply buy an account of sides with Lvl 50 reached already…

But at least the casual smurf would need to play a bit longer till he can terrorize ranked (also his MMR might be adjusted better compared 25, unless he plays crappy on purpose to get lower ranked).

I recently bought a computer and have begun leveling an alt for PC OW.

If the comp requirement was level 100 I would have bought a different game.

Comp requirements should be level 50, minimum of 1hr of hero time to unlock hero in comp, and sms authenticator.

Yeah this should never happen. Imagine having someone on your team ask for a specific character only to hear “I don’t have them unlocked yet” from both players on that role. Can’t picture any issues or toxicity coming from that at all…

Lvl 50 is enough. Sms does nothing, only pushes away people who don’t have access to a phone number (yes they exist and the free online phone numbers don’t work for sms, I worked for a bank for a while and we couldn’t use those to authenticate) and people who want to troll will find ways around it.

Of course you will, only very small minority would be willing to pay for expensive accounts. And as I explained, bot playing 100 levels have a lot higher chance to be banned than bot playing to lvl 25.

That’s what quick play is for. Comp intention is for serious players who want to actually improve and play in a team organized environment. Too many trolls and people who don’t care in comp right now. Raising the requirement to play comp will reduce the amount of trolls and brand new (multiple) accounts.

If It’s a brand new PC account (never played OW before) then that person should have no problem playing to 100 and actually learning the game, maps, counter picks, etc. IN QUICK PLAY. Comp is not for learning the game.

They’re not talking about playing for the first time at all. They’re talking about coming from console to pc.
