Now let’s talk about roadhog. This hero has 600 hp… a 300 hp self heal, and an ability (that should never exist on a tank) that can literally PULL people from 20 meters away into either
A one shot kill
A shotgun blast that literally puts them at 1 hp.
Into the middle of the enemy team where you will most likely die.

Notice how he either one shots, or they’re so low to the point where any sort of follow up will be guaranteed death. And those don’t even account for when they’re low hp, or getting shot at the same time that you’re hooking them.
I’m not saying he’s overpowered. I just don’t understand this idea that he needs buffs? or changes? The only reason he’s not played is because Orisa is absolute dogsh*t. I mean literally, when Rein was banned people even in some of my masters games REFUSED to play Orisa because of how bad she is.

Bronze: 4th place with 12.37%
Silver: 3rd Place with 12.04%
Gold: 3rd place with 12.92%
Plat: 3rd place with 13.88%
Diamond: 3rd place with 13.96%
Masters: 3rd place with 12.21%
Grandmaster: 7th place with 9.04%
As you can see for the MAJORITY he’s the third most played tank across 5 ranks. Even in masters.
So please enlighten me with WHY he should be buffed.
He does not need to be buffed, but he does not realistically need to be nerfed either. He is picked a lot because he is a dps, but in GM they play to win.
Well you see… unless they change around Sigma… Orisa’s not going anywhere. The moment she becomes playable the pros on Twitter, Reddit, OWL discord and wherever they are will open there mouths and cry to Jeff’s face to make her unplayable again.
Literally. Pros will never allow Orisa to exist as long as Sigma exists because of double shield. The only way for Orisa to ever be a main tank again is for Sigma to get reworked to not have a shield. Otherwise, Orisa will stay in the bin for the unforeseeable future.
Meeeeeh. See in my eyes. As long as he keeps that hook ability a thing… roadhog will always be a viable pick. It’s a free kill with a 20 meter range on a tank hero.
He’s one of worst heroes in the game and by far the worse tank because he feeds so much ult charge and offers no actual tankyness or utility outside of an easily denied cooldown, a cooldown that once spend Rog becomes a huge liability.
This “ult battery” nonsense will NEVER make sense to me… EVERY tank is an ult battery as long as they have high hp. That’s their whole point to soak up damage. His hook is not that easy to deny and not that hard to use. And when he’s healing he has 50% damage resistance so the people shooting him are gaining EVEN LESS ult charge.
Tanks also have damage denying cooldowns that don’t feed ult charge at all. 50% DR for 3 seconds is hardly enough when the competition can feed zero, like DM, bubble, shields, grasp and can also use those on their team.
You mean defense matrix? Where it protects you for 2 seconds? and takes 7 seconds to recharge fully?
And shields like sigma’s and orisa’s? Whose get melted because one is 600 hp and the other is 900?
Grasp the thing that only protects sigma to be honest?
What about monkey? Ball? Orisa?
Yes roadhog has no real protection for himself. This comes at the cost when you have a LITERAL one shot ability as a tank with DPS that can rival literal damage heroes.
I actually agree with you, especially as Hog is all about playing corners and flanking. I am far from a good Hog, but I like to believe I do not feed too much, at least relative to when I play other tanks who I am even worse at.
he just is a noob killer really. i dont think roadhog is a problem if the team knows how to deal with him… just pay attention where the hog is and make sure you keep track of his cooldowns…
e.t.c - i play a doomfist… i dont go in untill i see hook on cd… its how the game functions. similar to how i wouldnt go blink into a mcree while im on tracer till i see mcree’s flash get used.

Seriously. Its annoying to fight a hog thats clearly out of position, only for him to waddle away sipping his vape juice that magically reduces damage to him.
His hook, thanks to recent questionable changes, means most people cant react to it to save you since there used to be a delay, allowing bubbles and Mei walls to save you from being hooked to your doom.
Other than that, he offers VERY little to helping his team.
Now…old Roadhog on the other hand was different.
Yes, he could oneshot, but he had a LOT more damage, and that amount of raw burst damage gave him the field presence of a tank that created space alone. New Hog fails to do this. If old Hog missed hook, his damage allowed him to lock down an area with his presence, unless he got piled on (which was a trade off since he feeds a LOT of ultimate. It makes and breaks a good Hog player. Now you can just sippy cup away with no fear and its infuriating)
I say Hog doesn’t need a buff, but a revert/rework.
Give old damage back, remove the damage reduction+movement on his E ability, chop ammo back to 4, and increase headbox by 10%.
To make it spicy…allow movement abilities to work during hook. Blink, translocate, cryofreeze, fade…etc. maybe decrease hook to 5s in that case?
Hes played alot cus hes got a selfish design that caters to alot of players. Imo He needs to be slightly reworked to be an actual team oriented tank instead of fat dps abused my people who dont wanna wait for a dps game.
