Let's talk Doomfist

Doomfist as he is feels extremely weak. I would really like to see more Fighting-Game tech employed in his kit to make him more viable.

I think his Barrier ability should be replaced.

Passive Replacement
I’m On Fire -

Doomfist’s On-Fire meter should function similar to a “Super Meter” in fighting games. Three levels of On-Fire.

Much like his Barrier, hitting enemies with abilities charge his On-Fire meter, but it does not decay unless it is charged past the second bar.

Doomfist can spend one bar of On-Fire to upgrade his next ability’s damage.
To activate an On-Fire ability you must have at least one bar of On-Fire and you must be crouching while using the ability.

On-Fire Hand Cannon
Doomfist fires a concentrated blast similar to Reinhardt’s “Fire Strike” from his hand that penetrates barriers and players.
Think a Hadouken/Fireball

On-Fire Seismic Slam
Doomfist smashes into the ground with increased speed and will always do maximum damage.

On-Fire Rising Uppercut
Doomfist now stuns all enemies hit for .5 seconds on contact.

On-Fire Rocket Punch
No charge time, fires at maximum power.

On-Fire Meteor Strike REQUIRES ALL 3 METERS
Epicenter is now expanded and deals 450 damage.

New Ability - Insult to Injury
Doomfist heals 25 HP/ per second while Taunting.
This means that if Doomfist is ever by himself he has some sustainability. It’s a risk/reward since if you are caught while Taunting you are as good as dead.
It would take 10 seconds to fully heal at any given time.

you’re aware that this isn’t a fighting game though right? its a shooter/moba… and its not like super smash bro’s where u could just bring little mac cause everyone is an oddity… while most charcters have a unique skill set they still fall into the games reasonable confines

also since the change to his main fire he’s been reasonably good. not OP but thatas not something you want. you don’t WANT something to be OP.

Any conversation bout fixing Doomfist starts with redesigning rocket punch.

I love the thought that went into this post, but it may all be a bit unnecssary. What Doomfist needs is a fix to his Rocket Punch hitbox and a minor reduction to his cool down of either Seismic Slam or Rising Uppercut.

Oh trust me, he’s not weak. He has a really sharp learning curve but once you get over it he’s one of the most fun characters to play in Overwatch. Only thing i’d change about him is his Rocket Punch hitbox size but other than that I think he’s good.

I agree to an extent but I think he’s really outclassed by other heroes and he struggles a lot more when fighting tanks as opposed to other DPS heroes.

I don’t really mind fighting tanks. But he’s not a tank buster. If you want one of those go Reaper.

What would you define doomfist as? I feel like he should have the potential to bust tanks. He largely feels like a 1v1 guy in general.

How would you know if he has been good or not? you have a total time of 1 hours on doomfist, and a total of 0 seconds in competitive.


You shouldn’t speak about how good or bad the hero is when you barely played him.

Maybe they barely play him because he’s underpowered.

Most people say it’s just his rocket punch, but I think it’s more than that.

Whatever the reason is, the fact stands, the guy has no clue how the hero plays and yet he makes loud statements about hero’s state.

The idea is cool and unique, but i think what Doomfist need right now is a portion of buff in reliability and survivability.

Haha, I had a thread titled this in the old forums. What a small world.

I’ve been seeing a lot more Doomfist since the change to his primary fire, and from what I’ve seen, the faster ammo recharge will assist him greatly. It’s much easier to incorporate firing into combos and likewise do damage when your abilities are on cooldown.

dooms damage output is fine. all he needs is some changes to his ult, major bug fixes, consistency, and a bit more survivability.

This isnt entirely true as even though games with guest stars do fit into the confines of the fighting game doesnt mean they do not carry important traits from their own perspective game.

Using Smash bros as you suggested Ryu still has his focus punch and command attacks, Cloud has limit Breakers, and Shulk still has the weeb transistions.

In T7 Akuma still has his custom combos and Geese has a meter bar.

In soul calibur 4 Darth Vader still had force energy.

I think the OP would be a nice addition but sadly i highly doubt they do it as it would take alot of time, effort, and work to create new animations, meter bar, and balance it while still working on fixing his bugs.

mate… you realise that there is 2 sides in most matches right? like i can play AGAINST doomfist and tel he is much more playable atm… i am not sure why i got banned last time for saying this since it seems reasonable but… o well.
