Please do not take away the name plates we currently have and give back the red one to those that earned them.
The event is already poorly designed because you only have a small amount of time to do it, and it was near a holiday when many people were traveling.
I did not earn the red nameplate because im not a fan of comp, but I trucked through to get the purple one because its one of my favorite colors, and the extra comp currency was just a bonus.
Giving us a reward just to take it away feels bad. Just let it be something we can collect, like any other cosmetic in the game, and keep it. I think the event itself needs some work, but lets start with this, please. Lol
If your intention is to get people playing comp, you have to realize that once players figure out you will NOT get to keep the cosmetic name tag — they will not want to do it. I almost didn’t do it because I knew it was gonna go away. But in the back of my mind I kept thinking, “Well… what if they change their mind, and we DO get to keep it. Then I’ll be really mad at myself” so I did it. But that is not a healthy way to get people to join comp.
So yeah, please give the red nameplate back to people who earned it and let us keep all the ones we earn going forward. With the ability to change to whichever one is our favorite, of course.

+1 whats the point of even doing them if they’re just going to go away

I think the entire purpose of the drives is to get people to play competitive that would not otherwise engage in that mode. It lets them see where more people are placed in competitive and gives them more metrics about how certain heroes are performing at certain ranks.
The comp points and the name plate are only cosmetics to get people to engage with the mode and putting a limited time on it adds that feel of FOMO. You’re supposed to want to get the next one out of fear of not having one when this one leaves. Artificial scarcity.
I agree that this is the reason they have the drives, but I just don’t think it’s a healthy way to go about it. I think if the drives event lasted a few more days and the cosmetics were permanent, more people would participate.
I almost didn’t even participate in this drives because “Why should I, when I don’t even get to keep the nameplate forever?” But I did it in hopes that they might change their mind.
If the next drives event comes around and they haven’t changed anything, I will not be participating. But I will if it’s permanent. It just makes sense to me that the feeling of FOMO will be even stronger if it’s something we get to keep forever, but have a limited time to acquire it.
I don’t think the devs want the name plates to be a one and done kind of thing. They’re trying to drive repeated engagement into comp.
Adding them on the first place was the worst idea ever. As if we didn’t have enough clutter ingame now we have clutter in names too.

I think the drives are a good idea but could have been implemented better. These drives are one of the few noticeable additions that show off something based on time and effort and not just spending money. I agree that they are too short and it would be cool if you could apply any seasons drive to your card but keep the I, II, III, etc for how many drive you have fully completed.

Would be nice if you could swap between different ones

to me, the addition of 222/122 was by far the worse change ever to this game, with no close second
drive names is very minor by comparison

Welcome to 2024 where profit reigns above all else and we rather make things more miserable to use and interact with for the sake of profit than to have things be nice.
