Let Sombra disable Abilities again

But have the effect last half the Duration on Tanks or something.

Or have it only Disable Movement Abilities, so Zenyatta and Ana aren’t affected, but Genji and Tracer become free Ultimate Charge.

She could be an Anti-Flanker Flanker.

Or give her a Team-Wide Damage-Boost on Hacked Targets.

Or a Cleanse on Hack.

Or let her keep her Invisibility even if she takes a little bit of Chip-Damage.

There’s so many good options and all Blizzard did was make her OP, then Trash her, then wait 2 Seasons to give her a Rework. Live-Service my butt.

People generally are against any form of disable so I don’t think this would fly.

No idea what they could do with her anymore. Other than the possibility of being able to interrupt abilities without locking them out, just putting them on cooldown.

That would be locking them out though…

It wouldn’t. Like a literal no-duration hack to interrupt things like an ult in progress, but they can still use any abilities they have up immediately after.

I think they’re going to give Sombra the Orisa treatment. Probably everything about her will change except maybe translocator or stealth. Hack as we know it will likely be gone.

Right – which is a shame since I am fine with disable-like abilities

I like hack already but if they wanted to make it less of a hard debuff, I would say to treat it like my Ana anti-nade rework and make it an aoe instead

  • Sombra tosses out a device that emits an ‘EMP field’ in its aoe. Enemies inside have their abilities disabled or maybe cooldowns slowed/etc until they leave the circle
  • Maybe the field could distort/wobble the view a bit on the outside making it harder to land shots

Going further into big rework territory - maybe that field is tied to the Translocator object (so no more teleport) but we give her a burst of speed into invisibility (or make it resource based).

Right click/Hacking could be more offensive – like uploading a virus into someone. Hacked enemy starts to pulse and then after a delay like Mag grenade, the virus does damage and leaps to any of their allies nearby (repeating the process as long as someone is near and wasn’t affected yet)

Less safety leash, more dueling power? Rush in like Tracer with Stealth, upload virus, pop out and start blasting, toss distortion field to slow their cooldowns or make it harder for Ana to heal (almost like a smoke bomb), fizzle out and rush to the next target

I think the problem with Sombra was that she disabled every ability and then some.

What about if she only disabled one ability per hero, one that is predetermined combined with a longer hack CD.

Buff her base damage a little bit to compensate for the longer cooldown to make her more consistent at dealing damage.

I think this would make her more fun and possibly more viable.

It would be to determine which ones to disable. Some heroes would likely have their most important ones hacked while others would have miniscule ones disabled.

Yes. For example if you hacked Bastion, it would disable turret form.

For characters like Zen, who rely on a single button to heal, it would probably be a bad idea to disable that, so discord orb seems like a decent compromise.

What about heroes who have multiple damage-inducing abilities?

I just feel like it would be so wildly inconsistent, and you’d have to have a lot of memory to remember which abilities would be disabled on any given hero.

True, but it would also enable much more counter play which I think Sombra is perfect for.

Sombra absogoddamnlutely did not disable “every ability and then some”. There are several ULTIMATES she has no power over even though it’s logically completely inconsistent that she can’t do anything. Soldier is the most egregious. Ramattra is unhackable, now, too.

I’d rather they bump her base damage up to 8 again and maybe slap invis on a meter
