I would love a feature that lets leavers know when the team they left wins without them. Something big, bold and red that they can’t ignore. I would also love if they had to stare at the countdown timer from the game they left to emphasize that they aren’t getting into a new game until the previous game resolved. What do you think?
this happens alot, i backfill and win… sent them notification the team they abandoned won and ban them for 15 minutes
The sad fact is that a 5v6 is extremely hard. You only win if the enemy team are literal potatoes.
I don’t think enforcing negativity on players that already had negative issues will fix anything.
Unless they have left for irl reasons.

True enough but more often than not, the leaver is backfilled unless it’s at the very end of the match.
I too would like to know how the matches that I leave end without going to the replays and having to waste time loading the game which I do sometimes
This is not a plausible system with the current playerbase and matchmaking. The biggest reason players leave is that they see GMs/Masters in the opposing team while they have a plat Ball/Hog combo and it’s clear as a day which team is the loser team. Sometimes they don’t leave at the beginning because private profiles mean that they can’t evaluate the teams so it might come up only after a while in the game. Leaving means that the game is so bad that they’d rather not play. Also Paris and LC are a thing.
So why is playerbase an issue? Because it’s in it’s lowest state ever and it’s so low that it by itself it’s causing minor matchmaking and queue issues so if we started pushing all the players who occasionally leave really bad games away from the game they’d rather not play at all which would kill the game even further
I don’t think it’s negative necessarily, it’s already been stated that new matches won’t be made until the previous has resolved. At timer just clearly communicates that. And the banner to notify when the team wins, reinforces that the leaver bailed early and if the team won after they left then the leaver was probably the problem imo.
I’d rather leavers actually have a punishment in non comp modes. Ruin so many games and cause people to backfill or have games cancel, without punishment.
Perhaps this is true in Competitive, but I play almost exclusively PS4 QP Classic where that’s probably not the case and where leavers are pretty rampant.
This might be true but I haven’t seen any numbers that support it. But even if that’s the case, then and some of the leavers quit, is that really a great loss? IMO the serial leavers might quit but the occasional probably won’t and the game is better with out serial quitters.

I would laugh. Because the backfill is usually a stronger opponent giving that team the edge. Because that’s balance gaming right. Give them a smurf to win.
Agreed. Leavers are by far the biggest problem in the game right now. Habitual leavers need to be severely punished so that they never do it again.

As someone who play tank or healer in QP, I leave a lot. Because simply put, it’s not fun being the only one who actually tries to win and dies repeatedly because everyone is all over the place and not doing anything towards actually winning. Yeah sure, once in a while they might win but backfill matches more often than not ends in defeat. Which is why I don’t backfill either. Most of the time people leave for a very good reason.
I find it a bit insane that leavers have more agency over how the game is played than people who stick it out and work together.
Leaving is the only agency players have in this game; we cant pick the game mode, we cant pick the map, even character choices are taken away with the stupid counter design blizz put into place.
Most other games dont do this because its absolutely ridiculous and just contributes to frustration/toxicity.

One of my most memorable games was me as orisa blocking every rein shatter with my barrier, even when we were losing. Guy left at final push of the payload XD
