This meta seems as diverse as ever. It seems like there’s a place for more heroes (despite that place being highly specific in some instances for like sym or torb). If you treat it as 6 slots instead of three then it looks a lot better.
The heroes they buffed seem to be exactly the ones who are struggling right now. Some may need more buffs for sure. But right now, it seems like there’s at least a PLACE for every hero but brig, mccree, bastion, orisa and sigma.
What are your thoughts.
Probably unpopular, but I think GOATS was the best. It took a huge amount of teamwork and coordination to pull off to its fullest potential and every member of the comp had very involved jobs and potential for big impact. People who tried to emulate it by just throwing on those heroes with no coordination got crushed.
I think we’re still in the no meta phase, so it’s wait and see for me.
Either way some heroes really need help.
Personally I preferred the meta that was 2-3 months ago, before the so-called Hog patch. As for now, it’s potentially promising, but some heroes need buffs and some need nerfs.
Good goats was impossible to kill if you were on 2 2 2 cuz of the super high heals and hp
This meta isn’t really diverse. Dive tanks run circles around Rein comps and Orisa Sigma are F tier. Orisas meta was the most diverse in terms of tank balance.
Hell must have frozen over because we agree on something. GOATs era was the only time I felt like watching OWL tbh
GM ladder meta is so good right now and pretty much 90% of the roster is being played. The thing they could do to improve it is bring back Orisa’s old barrier and have bunker be viable again
It was tough but I liked to use Sombra, Fist, or Pharah to counter it. EMP was pretty much a free fight win against that low-damage comp, Fist could get insta-kills on the supports to bypass the healing, and Pharah could spam pretty much uncontested except for occasionally worrying about D.Va. You really only needed to get one pick against GOATS to crack it for that fight.
Do you talk about zen goats or moira goats?
Either really. I think Zen goats was more fun to play, though, because of the extra damage potential and coordination around his discords.
I’ve never paid any attention or cared that much what the meta is. I always just play what I want to play regardless. Much to the chagrin of my teammates.
In terms of how much I enjoyed it, GOATS.
In terms of actual being balanced probably right now.
Recent patches have been kind of a magic trick in the community, because OWL is playing Hog patch and it’s gonna be over soon without patch changes, meaning pros don’t know a meta applicable to ladder and no one can copy them.
Ladder by itself takes a longggggg time to settle a meta, it’s pros that usually start it and then it trickles down, so ladder, even GM and top500, have no idea what the meta is, and if patch changes keep coming this fast, we’ll never have time to find out, meaning play whatever the fork you want.
GOATS was fun to play, I imagine if you are DPS Dive would be the best. GOATS was non stop brawling so fun lol

Yeah, but I’d rather find a way for her to bring something to this weird rush dive comp that’s going on then have her playing Bunker again.
A stronger barrier could be a backtrack, I’m hoping the changes she got help.
Launch was the best meta, in my opinion.
I dont put much thought into it. I just play whatever I enjoy.
I didn’t like the balance from the last 2 patches because a few characters got left out in the cold.
Brigette has been butchered, and Baptiste feels a little weak at what he does (addressed next experimental).
All things considered, this seems to be an excellent patch - everyone seems playable, Genji and Pig aren’t opressing everybody, Sombra and McCree are both powerful enough to be worth playing, Widow still does her thing (mostly) but not as oppressively so, even Dva is solid enough, as long as you don’t squander your hitpoints.
I’m a flex player, I try to play 'em all, and I find this to be one of the best meta environments in ages - every combo seems possible, and I’m in my element.
