Legendary Skins should be more special

I, like many other players, got Sigma’s mythic skin from the Battle Pass. This skin not only is really nice looking, but it also has unique effects, voice lines and is even customizable. This is the skin I use whenever I play Sigma, and, considering how nice this skin is and how much it offers from a gameplay perspective, I see literally no reason to spend $20 on a Sigma legendary skin when it offers less than a skin I already own.

If Blizzard wants to charge $20 for a single legendary skin, they should make them actually worth that price tag (even though I still think that $20 for a cosmetic is pretty ridiculous regardless). At the end of the day, players can’t even enjoy skins during normal gameplay because this game is an fps and everything but your weapon is usually off-screen anyways. Mythic skins are unique because they offer changes that are actually noticeable during normal gameplay, so they usually dwarf any legendary skin that could show up in the store in terms of value (and they’re also technically cheaper). Some legendary skins do offer some things like special voice lines, but these are not the norm. $20 skins should always offer some form of gameplay cosmetic, whether it is unique weapon effects, voice lines or (the best option, imo) visual effects.

They didn’t even put robotic voice filters on this season’s legendary Omnic skins. It doesn’t even have to be extreme like Ana’s,more like how Orisa talks.
Two of them are even behind a 40$ bundle.

Correct me If I’m wrong, but Genji Mythic skin only has a “filter” right? They didn’t actually make the voice actor to do every single line again?

Is that hard to implement in a skin that pretty much needs it?, like the omnic versions of Junkrat or Roadhog, or the null sector versions of these season heroes.

I swear to my non existing god, it doesn’t displays it’s a response/reply comment.

They shot themselves in the foot with the Genji one. They added his mythic and then half a dozen legendary skins after the fact that no Genji main is going to care about.

I totally agree with you. I will never use another Sigma skin now that I have the M. Bison one. Not that I would pay for any skin regardless, but if there is an event with a Sigma skin, I do not need to bother returning because I already have the Street Fighter one.

It is just a filter, you can hear his special lines without the filter if you’re a teammate.Like his blade one “The light becomes me!”

Agree but they are lazy and just want your money. Honzo OW1 skin that completely changes his utly is incredible and they never did it again with any other characters since OW1 came out.

Yeah, they should do the same with robot/omnic skins, they need that filter, they don’t even need to pay the voice actors again for this specific task, just put the d4mm filter.

(btw, at this very moment, I’m with the “reply” button, but sometimes it just doesn’t displays like that in the forums, and I have to select the entire comment to be sure.)

Pink Mercy does have special ability effects and sounds, but I guess it was more of a special case.

I wouldn’t hold your breath, they haven’t even maintained the quality of Mythics.
It really does feel like they are trying to get away with giving you as little value as possible for your purchases in the cash shop.

The new Ana Mythic customization feels like 3 different skins to me,it is the most effort they’ve put into them yet.

It’s 3 Legendaries with 3 colour combinations and 2 weapons. There are no other customisations.

As legendaries they’re awesome. As a mythic? Has none of the features of the Genji, Sigma or Kiriko mythics

Yeah I know they downgraded the customization options from 4 to 3,that really went under people’s radars.

Mythics are honestly the problem. In early OW1, most legendaries had 2 color options. You had to purchase them separately, but hey.

Some OW1 legendaries also had unique effects and voice lines. Hanzo’s wolf skin, Mercy Imp and Witch Skins have unique voice lines for ult. Pink mercy has unique effects.

Now we have mythic skins and for the most part, they’re just barely a step up from legendary. Most of them are color swaps with some minor change to the armor.

Kiriko’s is my favorite, but I rarely change anything but the color.

The Ana one is technically the best, as it is essentially 3 different skins in one. Completely unique silhouettes. That being said, I think hers has the weakest change to abilities outside her voice.

Kiriko has really unique sound effects for her abilities and her ult gets a cool new graphic.

Ana’s barely change.

All this being said, prices are outrageous.

The only thing that makes it higher “value” is that if you think of it as a pack of legendaries, you get 3 legendary skins and all 3 colour versions of them. which is like 9 legendary skins in one.

So from that perspective it’s good, the highest value skin pack they’ve ever sold. But it’s still below the expectations they set with the earlier mythics for what a mythic IS and what makes it special.

Would I choose any of them over the legendary I currently use? Nope.

Honestly, Ana’s Mythic is what I expect from a legendary skin because of the ridiculous price. As a Mythic, though, it falls flat.

I mean it’s highly customizable, compared to like tracer, though I wish there was a third gun option. I also wish there were more sound effects changes.

I’ve always hated the sound effect for biogrenade. Why does it just sound like broken glass lol?

I mean, it’s literally the Mythic skin with the lowest amount of customization options. They could’ve done something really cool by having the head and cloak change independently of each other, but as it is, it’s very bland.

Still, if this Ana skin was sold as a legendary (or even three separate legendary skins) complete with new voice lines and sfx, I think it would be great and that’s honestly the direction that legendary skins should be heading considering how much one has to pay to get one (unless they’re on the BP, I guess)

It’s definitely mythic level. It’s literally 3 different skins. The legs, the body, the feet, the head. Every single element is different.

The firetruck bastion doesn’t have his little sirens go off during ult
That should be a crime
