Legacy Items Moving to Player Progression in Season 18

Greetings Heroes,

We’ve already had some amazing seasons this year in Overwatch 2, and Season 18 is going to be no exception. While we are not quite ready to dive and splash into everything players can expect this season, we are now starting on some exciting changes for Player Progression when you play any game mode in Overwatch 2.

Some of these changes are going to give newer players the chance to earn more items for their favorite heroes, more quickly. However, this means that if you already earned or purchased some of these items, you will be keeping these items and instead earning Overwatch Credits in their place in the Player Progression system.

Up to six different items from each hero’s Overwatch collection have now been removed from Loot Boxes and will no longer be purchasable for Overwatch Credits or Overwatch 2 Coins. As we mentioned, this will be retroactive so if you already own any of these items, we want to make sure the time or currency spent on them is not going to waste. You will receive Overwatch Credits for the rarity of each item already owned—and you get to keep that item—so that you can add new items from the Hero Gallery of your choosing. We will be rolling out these credit grants over the next several days, so they may not immediately appear on your account.

Don’t worry, none of the items removed include any Epic or Legendary Skins, and everyone will still be able to earn any of those items they don’t already have with the launch of Season 18 on August 26. We have a lot more to share about changes to Progression and all of the cool items you can earn, so tune back in this Friday where we all explain it in our latest Weekly Recall blog.

We’ll see you in game!
