Like can someone explain in Overwatch terms? You can no longer purchase golden guns? And how can you get legacy comp points? I’m kind of lost
All comp points you now have will be converted into points for gold weapons. And I also believe the points you have at the end of the comp season 2024.
With these you can then buy gold weapons directly from tomorrow. But then, when the points are gone, only again in 2025 ( for whatever reason )

all the comp points you have now are put into one old pouch, Blizzard says “at the end of the year, all the comp points you put in this new pouch will go into the old pouch. you can buy gold guns ONLY from the old pouch, and Jade guns ONLY from the new pouch.”

You will not be able to buy them until the end of the competitive year which means after this update, assuming you don’t have enough points to buy a gold gun, you will have to wait until 2025 to be able to buy them.

this change makes no sense to me. like Fomo for jade I can at least understand from a business perspective, but a full year until you can get another gold gun is insane

It is insane that’s why a lot of people are being vocal about it. Lots of players have no interest in these awful looking jade guns and players like myself are still working on getting the gold guns for the characters they play. Coupled with the point nerf (10 per win versus 25 now) it’s pretty clear this is just meant to artificially inflate the player numbers by keeping players grinding for what they want longer.

I currently have 1500 points I have been waiting for the new season so I can receive 1500 points. I’m still wondering whether I’ll get the new points or the legacy ones.

same, 2400 with my 800 from plat challenger. if I have to wait a year im gonna be so pissed

No, you have to wait until 2025 for a gold weapon if you only have 1500 now. Because these 1500 become the points to buy gold weapons.
Then from tomorrow you will collect points for the jade weapons. and only at the end of 2024 will you get points for the gold weapons again. Namely, the rest of the new points (which will be collected from tomorrow) will then return to the points for the gold weapons

It’s terrible. I’m shy 1k for a gold weapon. I’ll have to wait a year to get it.
This is outrageous, they say it will be easier to get golden weapons and now this? Clearly this game decisions are going from bad to worse
What a bizarre change.
My guess is to open up the flood gates for weapon skins?
Gold weapons are very popular in online shooters, maybe they want to make unique golden weapon skins to sell?

I’ve had 2500 legacy comp points ever since they implemented this system, being unable to manage to set aside 500 points for the reset to get rid of these excess points, so now I’ve just got another year of these legacy credits sitting there unable to be spent. Surely there’s a better way to go about this than making people wait a year? Perhaps a way to nominate points to switch over to legacy credits? so that way I could use my credits towards the gold/jade but not vice versa so the new comp gun skin stays exclusive.
