Leaving QP games

The other day I saw someone’s comment saying they got account banned for leaving QP games because they have a child to look after.

My question is, is it actually possible to get account banned eventually for leaving QuickPlay games?
Since I have an unstable internet at here where I live which goes down sometimes, and very very often my game just crashes with an error “Rendering device was lost”
I have a topic on that error but there’s just simply no fix, I even changed my gpu and still crash. I’m more than sure the problem lies with blizzards incompetency as I’ve met many other people who just left playing the game because of this error.

The only way that happened would be if they got reported and hit the threshold for account action. Leaving QP games will not give you any account ban, but it will suspend you for a maximum of 48 hours.

From https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/31268:

“In Unranked Modes, leaving two to three of your last 20 games played will result in a 2-minute suspension from queuing for most modes. If you continue to leave games, the suspension can increase to 10 minutes, then 2 hours and finally 48 hours.”

From https://esports.gg/news/overwatch/overwatch-2-reduces-quick-play-leaver-penalty/:

  1. 2-minute suspension = If you leave 2 to 3 games out of 20
  2. 10-minute suspension = If you leave 4 to 5 games out of 20
  3. 2-hour suspension = If you leave 6 to 9 games out of 20
  4. 48-hour suspension = If you leave 10 or more games out of 20

So generally as long as you’re finishing at least 3/4 of your games, you shouldn’t end up with more than a 10 minute suspension. And basically a 10 minute suspension is waiting for the game you left to end.

And if you manage to get 2 day suspension by leaving fully half of your games then yes, I think you do deserve a two day break. Having to leave to look after your child is fine, but you should at least be able to finish half your games.

Timed out but not banned for leaving QP

this system doesnt fix the leaver stuff at all in reality and actually caused people to start throwing deliberately…aaron keller should of been fired for this stuff as it doesnt address the true reason why people leave

Leaving games repeatedly, even in QuickPlay, can result in penalties.

Blizzard’s Defense Matrix initiative addresses disruptive behaviors, including frequent game leaving, which can lead to account restrictions.

For example, leaving four out of your last 20 games can result in a 10-minute suspension, which can increase with continued offenses.

However, Blizzard understands that players may need to leave for legitimate reasons, such as technical issues or personal responsibilities, and strives to balance penalizing disruptive behavior without unfairly punishing those with valid reasons for leaving.

For your technical issue with the “Rendering device was lost” error, it’s crucial to ensure all drivers and software are up to date and to follow Blizzard’s troubleshooting guide. If the issue persists, consider sticking to casual modes until resolved to minimize penalties from disconnects.

Recommendations:

  1. Technical Troubleshooting: Ensure your GPU drivers and game files are up to date. Check Blizzard’s support site for specific troubleshooting steps related to the “Rendering device was lost” error.
  2. Minimize Disruptions: While resolving technical issues, play in casual modes to avoid penalties from disconnections.
  3. Reporting Issues: If you continue facing frequent game crashes, submit detailed reports to Blizzard’s support team for further assistance.

By addressing these technical and behavioral aspects, you can help prevent penalties and ensure a smoother gaming experience.

Get reported enough, for even the most ridiculous and trivial of reasons, you will eventually be automatically perma banned. The joys of a fully automated report system a multi billion dollar company is using to “save money” (cut corners…)

OP is talking about leaving qp which are matched as per MMR if he leaves this will only cause delay to find another person.

Usually no one wants the back diff. Everyone knows the backfill blizzard sends is way too strong for this mmr.

I was sent to The Indian map yesterday to tank with 0-3 last 1 min left in the game.

I took it as a challenge. Team fully committed and we won a 0-3 game.

This is unfair for the red team. Who clearly were good for that MMR.

I came in and tanked it.

This is exactly what blizzard set up these road blocks for.

Red team was upset with the back fill diff.

I apologized and left.

People say that. But my games have improved immensely.

But lets say it was true. Why would we want to cater to a part of the playerbase that is DETERMINED to harm the experience?

Let them throw, get reported, and eventually permanently banned.

Just in case someone didnt read this, its not only QP and it gets WEIRD when it comes to MH for example. Theres no “lobby” where you can leave safely if you don’t like the map so watch out for that.

Leaving 2 MH games even on the first 10 sec, will get you a penalty right away. Theres ZERO leeway there (dont know if bug or not) but thats how it is.

It’s Blizzard incompetency, when you have unstable internet connection and terrible rig. Sure buddy.

Don’t play mmos if you cant provide stable connection for few minutes when you are in a match. Im glad people like you dont ruin my games in qp.

Just today I had tank, who were going “afk” or something every few moments. Idk if that dude was eating or watching netflix, but even tho we were winning, I had to go 200% on Ana to keep him alive, while he was standing in enemy fire It was so frustrating and so exhausting. Less patient person would definetly report this guy.

its possible they was throwing or a possible lag spike as some have reported issues with ping lately

QP has become a place for smurf accounts to try hard to dominate and level up. Just make the game cost money again and let people into ranked when they buy it.

What aren’t people understanding?

This contradicts Microsoft’s strategy of making Blizzard games more accessible across all platforms and consoles.

Quick Play in Overwatch has always been a challenging environment. High-skilled players often queue for Quick Play as a warm-up, typically playing three or four games before moving to competitive matches.

The Quick Play community needs to understand and accept this dynamic.

Blizzard is effectively monitoring matchmaking in Overwatch.

I initially assumed Quick Play would be more relaxed until I created an alt account and played some games.

For me, there is virtually no difference between Quick Play and Competitive Play.

I frequently face top 500 and GM 1 duos in Quick Play. After realizing this, I logged back into my main account, feeling that it was a waste of time.

There are no easy games. Blizzard places players in an MMR bracket based on their skill level. So, if someone is looking for an easy game in Quick Play, they are likely already at the appropriate MMR for their skill level.

This system helps other players who are not as skilled to play at their own level.

This has never happened. This game is based on a "casino, dopamine driven, player engagement. "

That’s a gigantic, glaring problem.

It’s been like this for years. I rarely play Arcade. If a game is too tough, there are other options.

All Blizzard games follow a similar pattern. When you queue for a Battleground in WoW, it’s usually a win or a loss with little middle ground.

This way, the losing team is motivated to work harder, earn honor gear, and then queue for Arena matches.

You might be new to this, but it’s a tried and tested method for Blizzard.

COD is the same way.

I suspect that there would people who are also reporting the person for gameplay sabotage for leaving

I’m pretty sure when players say “account banned” for leaving QP they mean the leaver ban from the queue.

If they really mean a true ban it must be some wild stuff like cursing out severe stuff or something. Or they are cheating and think it’s just leaving QP games. Not everyone is intelligent out there to know what’s happening.
