Matchmaker makes an uneven landslide match witch i don’t enjoy playing in. I leave the match accepting the penalty just for the matchmaker to put me back in the same game and giving me double penalty from the same match.
Don’t instantly requeue. That’s the only cure for that.
If you instantly re queue, the mm might not have backfilled your spot yet. And then it “sees” your just perfectly ranged mmr enter the pool of players again and slaps you back into the match.
Fill your drink, stretch, check your socials, take a bathroom break. A small break will likely prevent you from beimg put into the same match again.
(I personally find it funny when a leaver appears back in after a few seconds. Before the penalties were added, i saw the same person rejoin and leave 4 times at best.)
Well that’s easily fixed…just don’t leave in the first place
Leaver penalties being harsh for comp is fine, makes no sense for QP. The fix is to soft throw.
Good thing you need to leave a quarter of your recent games to reach the 10 minute penalty.
You get season banned from comp for the same amount of leaves.
Should be 5-6 leaves for 2 mins in QP, tbh.
I’d just make the 4 leaves the 2 mins, 6 leaves 10 minutes etc.
That way you can basically leave 5 times before an actual penalty hits at the 6th leave.
Because sadly, there are plenty of people whos fault the leaver penalties are. If people hadn’t left as much as they did (and abused their right to do so with a minimal xp penalty) we wouldn’t have suspension penalties in qp at all.
When leaving matches, just after it go to recent players and pick one from your team to avoid - in that case you won’t be placed in the same match - working strategy
Tough I had few cases where I was put in the same match 1-2 minutes later… but on the enemy side xD
We would still have these penalties.
The reason the penalty for leaving was an XP Rate Reduction was because when you leveled up, you’d get a free Loot Box.
Since they can’t give us free Loot Boxes anymore, they just don’t let us play.
Once I hit that 10m+ penalty i just switch to a new account and continue to play
So yeah those penalties for QP are not that effective
Wow. I just never can fathom why people feel like they have to leave games. I don’t leave games, even when the game is a stomp, or not going well for me.
The only way I leave a game here, is if the internet kicks me out, which almost never happens.
I will agree about the waiting before joining another game to avoid players you were just playing with. That does work. lol
Another thought:
Lets say the game you are in is on a map you don’t like or going in a way that you don’t like. Ride it out. I have had games that started bad turn around and end up good before they ended. Had one the other night on a push map:

The enemy team was stomping us, had the barricade nearly to our spawn door. We finally managed to turn the tables and won the game. We were even in overtime for the last part of our push.
Too many players just can’t handle a bad game and would rather quit than fight it out. If you wanted an easy game where you only won matches, maybe OW isn’t for you.

I’ve had one of these on esperanca. I was a backfill though.
No progress for the bot for us, enemy at our doorstep, overtime going and i backfill in.
We managed to pull together and push all the way to the enemy spawn.
That’s one of the most satisfying types of game ever.

Actually, once you get a two hour penalty. The high penalties remain for a while. You can stay in say 5 games. But until that caution symbol leaves your icons. You will get a 10 minute penalty. Than it will skip to two hours.
It counts from your last 20 matches.
If you leave 10 in a row, you’ve still left 10 in a row if you play 5 matches normally
But if you leave 10 in a row, and stay in 11 matches your leaving count is 9.
If you leave 10 in a row and then stay 15 matches, your leaver count is at 5.
