why there is no Leave penalty in Quick Open Queue?
I don’t play many pvp games. Are there any other than overwatch that don’t have time penalties for people who quit often?
It’s baffling to me that they have time penalties in their other games like hots and WoW, but not overwatch.

I believe they do have leaver penalties, just not enough to affect any but the most frequent of leavers.
They dont need to have a penalty for leaving a single game, but the penalties definitely need to be given out more often.

A meet in the middle.
Perhaps you have a minimum amount of games you can leave in 24 hours. Say 3 to 5 games. After that you get a timer penalization.
Theres a leaver in almost every quick play game I’m in. Its not exactly a fun experience. This is coming from someone thats usually on the winning side. Its boring and the backfilling players have a hard time.

Disagree. If you want matches of people trying you play ranked. Quick play is CASUAL and if you dont like that theb maybe you should play COMPETITIVE.

Wrong. Doesn’t matter what the game mode is, people are playing for fun and when a match has 2-3 cycling leavers it isn’t fun.
Leaving the occasional match is fine but if they allowed people to do it freely all the time people would just leave after the first lost teamfight.
Competitive is not the only mode people should be allowed to enjoy. Not everyone prefers the salt and rage at the end of the day when they just want to have fun.
Other games like LoL and HOTS or Paladins have a non-competitive queue and have leaver penalties as well because even one leaver ruins the game for everyone.

Dunno about OQ, but RQ QP does have XP penalties for leaving. OQ should as well if it doesn’t already.

There is. There is 75% XP penalty for the next few matches the leaver does.
The problem is that’s not really something leaver care about anymore since XP is so useless.
Back in Overwatch 1 you didn’t want XP penalty because that could cost you an entire day without leveling up and getting a lootbox.
Now there are no rewards, nobody is in a hurry to finish the battlepass.
Until we get some better reward system that actually gives incentive for players to finish a match, this leaver problems will not be solved.
Nah, there are other casual games that have dc penalties.
(I don’t really care if people leave qp, I’m just saying.)

Competive is for that. Competative players, people who care about rank lists who want to get into teams and leagues etc.
I’m not playing the game competativly. Just casually. Playing a team game casually doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be a teamplayer. Leaving is selfish and against the spirit of the game, even the casual matches.
This argument has been made for over half a decade and people that think that Casual is something you are allowed to throw and ruin your team’s effort by leaving have always been trashed and rightfully so.
A Casual game is 10 minutes at worst, if someone can’t dedicate 10 minutes to a match even if there is a slim chance for winning they shouldn’t play the game at all.

Why do you feel so entitled to give 9 other players a bad experience? Sounds like you want the ability to keep leaving games that are not winnable until you find a game that is.
You are not even willing to compromise a fair solution. Maybe FPS games are not for you.

Every time someone leaves a match, it forces a backfill. Not everyone likes to backfill.

Fix the matchmaking then balance the game then no leavers or backfill

Leavers were the reason I stopped playing OW1, but that was competitive, not QP. Now that I play QP, and not competitive, I blame the matchmaker. I’ve been matched against diamonds, and masters. Even played a masters tank while I was tank. That just happened recently, after I thought they were suppose to fix that, but they obviously never did.
The games are so anti fun now. It’s one shot kill after one shot kill all game, my team having 4K less healing than the enemy, surviving for 30 seconds at low health, but the healing never comes even while I stand beside them, and in one outrageous example I stood in front of an Ana hoping she would accidentally shoot me, but she just kept moving and not shooting.
Why do you think I should play a game with people who are actively avoiding doing their role? They have the right to ruin the game for me, but I can’t leave a game that nobody else wants to win… The quality of matches since OW2 have been the worst I’ve ever seen in a game.

You ARE allowed to leave.
you are only penalized for constantly leaving.
Win or loss doesnt matter in quick its just for fun.
Take that same fun and play comp where ur wins and losses go towards somethig
You can play comp and have fun too just mute the toxic people or mute chat and leave voice like i inevitably have to do sometimes. If my boy is in ranked game ending i might kill time in qp then leave to q up xd
Tbh I rarely get anyone like that in quickplay. Lately some of these people have been ballin. It’s kinda awesome, though that means tougher opponents too.
Not all the matches are good. I’ve had a few bad tanks. But when All Roles serves up tank for me, I seem to get decent to great supports. They make me look like Hard Carry Harry but the reality is, they’re often stealing the show.
As far as leaving goes, it screws up matchmaking by lowering your mmr (pretty sure it does this) and then backfilling using a player that probably has higher mmr than you had at the beginning of the match. The net result is you wind up being matched with even bigger chuds on both teams next round while the match you abandoned gets thrown off by having one extra high(er) mmr player in it.

So, as someone mentioned earlier, you are technically punished for repeatedly leaving in QP and other modes. After a few, you lose an endorsement level, and then a few more you gain a 75% xp debuff which makes it so you get much less XP towards the battle pass tiers.
Other than that, why would you get punished? You get punished enough for leaving ranked. QP and other modes are not really serious. Throwing the match intentionally, sure, its for playing with heroes you don’t use often or want to play with. So you should be able to leave it freely.
