When I’m in a group waiting in Queue with friends, it’s common for us to use the While You Wait feature. But not everyone wants to participate.
When I saw that there was a new leave option, I was excited, but it doesn’t work as I expected. So now there’s a “Leave Game” button that’s separate from a “Leave Game and Group” button. Nice, so that means that I can use the “Leave Game” button and stay in the group right? Wrong.
When I click “Leave Game” and uncheck the Leave as Group option, I expect that I leave the custom game that we’re using for the While You Wait feature, but stay in the group that is in Queue for a different game like Quick Play Role Queue.
But what happens is that I leave the game and the group, and consequently the queue as well. The rest of the group is still in the While You Wait custom game and the group and the queue, so at least I don’t effect anyone else when I make this mistake… until they stop the queue to re-add me and requeue because we wanted to play together.
I don’t understand how you would think this in the first place.
You either leave with the group, or leave without the group.
It’s the same as hanging out with a group of friends. If they go to hang out in a bar and you don’t want to stay in the bar, you leave the bar, but you’ve also left the group.
This is how it’s always worked.
OP’s usage is a little too niche to be adding an option just for that, but I agree the language is ambiguous enough to be confusing. The default option is always to just leave. Then there’s the extra checkbox to pull your entire group out when you’re the leader.
I honestly don’t see the point of adding this extra button they did. I understood it the same way as OP when I first saw it, because otherwise what’s the point of adding another button that does the same thing? Since I’ve yet to use it, I still thought it did what OP assumed it was, if I hadn’t seen this post.
To provide a little more context, I was hoping recreate the situation when you AFK in a While You Wait game, which after a while kicks you out, thereby removing you from the game, BUT keeping you in the group in the queue.
So with new button showing up with exactly the right wording to match the previous “Leave Game” + unchecked “Leave As Group” button functionality, I assumed that it would also provide some kind of different functionality than the other buttons in the case of being in a While You Wait game.
It’s just confusing that for this button, it seems that “Leave Game” refers to both the leaving the game you’re not in but Queued up for (and therefore also leaving the group) and also leaving the custom game mode you’re in, when I personally expected it to only leave the one layer of game I’m in.
