I know there’s ways heroes can play around heroes that usually do well against their kits.
But you need to learn when to just swap off.
We shouldn’t be playing Widow into a comp with Winston, Torb and Brig all on the same team. Especially on Illios.
Yes this is directed at somebody and I don’t care.
If the hero obviously isnt working, for the love of everything just switch.
Why torb? His head hit box is so big that it would be more of a flex to miss.
And depending on who the other DPS is, it might not be the widows job to focus on the Winston, if she can take out the supports she’s doing her job.
If the other dps is junkrat, Mccree, pharah, or just a high damage dps/hitscan then it should be no problem for the other dps to just focus the tank while Widow can focus on the supports.

Counters a lot of things now because they want him to hard counter certain heroes but he ends up hard countering the rest of the roster
The Winston was constantly on the Widow though, and we had no Mercy to pocket her through it. And our other DPS was ASHE.
And the problem is, she wasnt taking care of the supports. The only kills she was getting was on the Winston whenever he jumped in at 2 hp. Other than that, we wouldve gotten much more value and probably won had she swapped.
If its a team game, she was actively dragging us down.
None of these shut down Widow or make her not worth playing. The biggest factor in if someone shouldn’t play Widow or not is their own ability to hit their shots because that’s her biggest strength and weakness.
A Winston jumping on you for 90% of the game is not a reason to get off of Widow? When the other DPS we have is Ashe and our tank is a Ball?
Damn. I’m an amazing Widow then.
Seems like you have a teammate skill issue, not a counter issue. It takes way more for Winston to consistently get to and shut down Widow than it does for Widow to mostly ignore, play around, or even just get a miniscule amount of help from her support and kill/drive him off.
If your team has ball and two long-range burst heroes, you should be feasting on the enemy team constantly getting displaced and their tank leaving to dive into your own backline.
Unfortunately, that didnt happen. Regardless of counters or not, Winston was countering our Widow. She got 0 value and refused to swap even when it was 100% clear it wasnt going to work.
She just kept dying, and our team kept losing fights because it was a 4v5 with a Winston that was getting free ult charge. And I have to keep our other teammates up because I cant heal Widow without hurting my positioning.
Did your team do anything to help your Widow? Or were you all standing around hoping she carried you? You have to peel for your DPS too.
There is really not much I can do on Zen or Moira against a Winston jumping on a Widow since bubble breaks los. And also not much I can do if she refuses to hook away for me to heal her.
Of course I get a Widow apologist nagging me to move heaven and earth so our Widow can stay alive and miss more shots.
Don’t play Zen or Moira? You say learn your counters, then you play the 2 supports that are most useless against Winston (unless your team takes advantage of discord).
Its either Zen, Moira, or Lucio.
Those are my 3 supports, take it or leave it. And I’m not the one getting dove 24/7, and actually doing my job.
If Widow is the one not getting value, Widow should swap.
Yeah, this is just typical “always someone elses fault” lol. You can’t even flex yourself yet you expect others too.
If you were doing your job your Widow wouldn’t have been a free kill.
Oh so what would you have me do? Swap to a hero I have zero experience on like Mercy to pocket Widow into still doing nothing?
Or play Bap and waste every Immortality field on her? Or play Ana, an even WORSE pick into a Winston unless im sitting directly in the bubble?
Oh wait, lemme guess. Play Lifeweaver so I can pull her every 16s so she only dies half as much. Or Kiriko and jump in the middle of her and pocketed gorilla so she can continue to do nothing.

No, but don’t assume other players know how to play the heroes you want them to swap to either. Take your loss and move on.
Oh of course, I have to respect the Widow one-trick who refuses to cooperate or play any differently.
I’m not asking for any specific hero. I wouldve taken literally ANYbody else. Go Torb for all I care, and I’m willing to swap if my pick isn’t working. My issue is people not doing the same, and then people on forums trying to tell me IM the problem.
I’m sure they would have greatly appreciated you to play a support that could better assist them. We don’t always get what we want.
Don’t like it then make friends and stack. You can’t control randoms. No one is entitled to swap.
And of course you have to still harp on how it’s ME who could have done more, it’s ME who has to carry the entire team and help them when they don’t want even want to be helped.

Not everyone has people they can go to make 5 man squads of the perfect teammates.
