Stop with the radio silence. Cyberpunk is now very highly rated. They put in huge amounts of work, and massively increased the size of the team since launch, and they’ve been rewarded. They did not allow a few trolls to bully them into silence about their game or their plans to make future changes.
Leaving the forums entirely to toxicity, and not engaging at all, meant even people defending it at launch get worn down as problems mount, complaints mount, and nothing positive addressing things comes out here.
How are they even remotely comparable?
Cyberpunk launched in a legitimately broken state. Like unplayable bugs. Broken AI, Broken questlines. Cops literally spawning in front of you.
OW2 had to cancel PvE. The core game is still great.
Also Cyberpunk also went silent for awhile, they just said a generic “we’re gonna make it better sorry guys” apology, and then took what was it like 6months to a year to fix it?
So comparing them is just flat out bad faith and rewriting history. This community is so ridiculous at times.
Overwatch launched great, then was killed by corporate for years, destroying the trust with the players.
Cyberpunk released as an awful game, for them it was only uphill from there.
While there are many players that had issues with the game (particularly on last gen consoles, many of us had little to no issues.
I for one had two minor bugs and no crashes in over a couple hundred hrs played.
The devs failed on many fronts, including promises, but I didn’t consider it an awful game by any stretch. All things taken into account I enjoyed a lot. Specifically the narrative and characters. I give it a 7/10 in execution.
but this is where you are wrong, Overwatch is no longer a game, overwatch 2 is the “Game” we are talking about, from launch of Ow2 it has been nothing but buggy garbage that got a free ride from the predecessor.
Ow2 has been buggy since launch, and the only bugs they care to fix are the ones they left in to keep some of the roster viable, until said time they rework the skills, fix the bug, and make sure they are underpowered for the next 6 seasons.
Both OW2 and Cyberpunk were buggy garbage on launch, atleast cyberpunk owned it and fixed their game… Ow2 has only gotten worse.
Again, it’s anecdotal. I don’t care what anyone else experiences were because mine was good. I couldn’t care less how self absorbed it sounds either.
It’s not like I wish anything bad on those people. It sucks, but there’s nothing I can do about what they experienced. Do you think they’re going to care that my experience was good? They’ll say “I’m happy for you” and continue on with their discontent of what they went through. lol
The people defending them are desperately trying to join the Blizzard VIP club that, spoilers, you can’t join unless you’re already paying them millions.
The devs don’t have the luxury of caring about any of you. Especially the people who defend Blizzard.
This was OW2 as well. Atleast we can agree they fixed the most important bugs, but it took devs a lot of time, more than any other live service game I can remember.
2 characters being disabled for 2 weeks each one, one character followed by a different one on release.
Sounds missing last season like Dva’s meka drop having no sound.
The infamous matchmaking “bugged”.
Skins that dissapeared from some players accounts.
Support regen stacking with other regen effects such as Mercy’s own old passive (this one Im not sure if it was a bug or just a design fail by the devs, because Moira’s support passive doesnt stack with other self healing for example).
BTW, why is it that you had a difficult time comprehending my initial post?
That’s me acknowledging the studio messed up, and you’re acting like I need to go out of my way to show players got screwed over. That’s none of my business.
If you don’t want to read my post that’s on you. Makes no difference to me.
anyways, the comparison doesn’t need to be exact, but the game did not leave the best impression at launch and it has come a long way since but still has some deep issues that need addressing. and outstanding promises too. like yes cdpr went silent for a “while” but these forums have basically been dev free since overwatch 1 was put in the freezer while they went to go watch on overwatch 2. and until they’re actually actively engaging with their own community again, like paradox does, like CDPR does, and cultivating fanaticism, the only fanatics will be the ones who hate the game, instead of fans.
i can also definitely swallow a lot more of the issues when i can promise myself “they confirmed again they’re still working on removing hard counters and rock paper scissors gameplay”, the way i stuck it out through two and a half years of doubleshield, when i could convince myself first that it would be fixed, and then that it could be banned with 5v5 on the horizon. them coming in and announcing changes again, and announcing OW2, really did keep me going. and then beta too helped.
and till they’re here again, it will still feel like maintenance mode to me, cause what big company has a forum empty of game creators, it just literally feels empty
where is this engagement and doling out of hope? there is none. it’s drip drip drip and only to content creators instead of us.
