LC-208.001/Unexpected Server Error

Hello everyone,

I’ve been encountering the LC-208.001/server connection login error on PS5 and laptop using my main account. My alternate PSN + Battle.net account works fine on the exact same setup, so it’s clearly account-specific.

I’ve also tried connecting using a completely different network (my phone as a hotspot) and the issue persists, further confirming that this is not a network problem.

From community discussions and what I’ve learned:

  • This error is often caused by Blizzard’s automatic account review system, which regularly checks accounts for cheats and communications.

  • One user shared that a Blizzard staff member confirmed this:

“208.001 is account-specific and seems to come from account reviews. This doesn’t mean you’ve been reported — it’s just a general check. Occasionally, something goes wrong when ending the check, giving error 208.001, which is why only high-level staff can unblock it.”

  • Important: This is not a ban or report. It’s apparently an internal check that occasionally triggers an access error.

I wanted to include links to forums and reddit posts but I can’t add them here. However, I have seen many recent posts and replies on this forum of others experiencing this same issue within the last 48hrs, so there is definitely something going on.

Steps I’ve tried:

  • Restarted PS5, laptop, and router

  • Unlinked and relinked PSN + Battle.net connection

  • Tested on another device (laptop)

  • Tested on alternate account- which works fine

  • Tested on a completely different network via phone hotspot (still doesn’t work)

Since this is clearly account-specific and affecting multiple players recently, it seems to require a backend authentication or token refresh by Blizzard staff to restore access.

Has anyone else encountered this recently and had it resolved? I hope creating visibility here helps Blizzard escalate this for affected accounts.

Thanks in advance for any advice or support!

Made my own post about this yesterday, on which several people confirmed they were experiencing the exact same issue and behavior from the game, also seen another post from another user about this today, and then now your post.

We also all seem to have experienced the same results from contacting support through tickets: basic generic troubleshooting tips that just prove they haven’t read the tickets at all, then being told they can’t do anything about it, and to try to come on these forums for help, before simply closing the tickets.

This kind of customer service is unacceptable. I work in tech support myself (for a whole other kind of business, but it doesn’t matter – although we do have to work with servers and networks), and if we acted like this with our customers, they would probably riot and shut us down pretty quickly. This is not how you want to treat the people who are giving you their money to buy your stuff and/or their time to play your game and keep your community active. It’s all kinds of inconsiderate.

This NEEDS to be looked into, but for that they need to at least acknowledge there’s an issue, which they refuse to do, for some odd reason.

Yeah I just had a scout on Reddit and it’s happened on both Xbox and PS in the past. And the advice is to not relink the account as it risks a 365 day cooldown

Commenting on this to bring visibility to this issue! I have this same issue but on the PC version. I even tried logging in on my ps5 & switch and kept getting this same error. I’ve been going around and commenting on all these related posts in hopes it helps (I don’t have much hope sadly :upside_down_face:)!

I am having this issue on my xbox as well. When my roomate signs in on my xbox, they can get in without issue. This clearly proves its not our settings, hardware, or networking. This is an issue on Blizzards side. Please resolve this Blizzard, so we can get back to playing the game we all enjoy.

I found some info online stating that reporting issues like this in bug reports is more effective at getting Blizzard staff engaged that in tech support. I created a new post here if you all would like to upvote and comment on. Thanks: Unexpected server error occurred, not able to login.

My problem is that every time I enter the game, I get banned + since I did not enter the game because the game did not let me into the game :man_shrugging:!!!and the Internet, all services are available , and now I have been banned for 7 hours!!!
Neglect of the game support. Just Fix your game!! Or do not think that players will play again unless they are stupid.

I’ve been getting this issue since Friday. I haven’t been able to play since. Blizzard support is useless when it comes to this as they just say ‘idk what that is blah blah blah’ like I just wanna play the game :sob:

Guys we finally have some sort of update! The Blizzard CS EU Twitter responded to someone about this issue (I can’t post the link here, but you can check out my twitter account to see it - @sassycho_)

Their response reads:

Hello there, Thanks for reaching out! We’ve received similar reports from other players as well and the issue is currently being investigated !:eyes:

I am so happy they are finally acknowledging this issue! I hope they can fix it asap!
