Mercy’s wings since the release of Valkyrie have been kind of underwhelming, especially since most of the time the bright yellow clashes with the normal color of her skin’s wings.
Let me list in detail my problem with her wing design for her various skins
Valkyrie, Combat Medic Ziegler, Cobalt -
Blue wings. They should be blue in Valkyrie.
Imp/Devil -
The visual effect for Mercy spreading her demon wings during her Valkyrie activation is messed up and instead of being pointy its sort of square and choppy
And of course Imp’s wings should be purple in Valkyrie.
Fortune -
Wings should be green with the crimson tips in Valkyrie
Sugar Plum Fairy -
The wing color needs to be changed all together. The default yellow looks pretty ugly when put against the color pallet of the rest of the skin.
All Overwatch League Skins -
For real, I hate how in all of her OWL skins her wing color is just the default yellow, while it works with a few of the skins, it really clashes with some of the others.
If I spend 5$ on a skin, it should probably have some more effort put into it. (And I’ve bought about $100+ worth of OWL skins at this point)
It’s for consistancy throughout skins so you can recognize ults from a distance easily. Genji’s blade does the same thing. It’s about game design consistency, and creating easy to spot things.
If you own a League skin, I believe we should have access to the relevant colors for weapons, wings, abilities and projectiles. Doesn’t have to appear on an opponent’s screen that way so it doesn’t interfere with recognizing Ults, etc. But let it show up on the player’s screen that owns the skin.
Um last I saw Cobalt had Blue wings, Fortune had Green Wings with Red tips and In the league mercy’s wIngs were colored but they arent in the live client?
I’m pretty sure they are pink in the charity skin.
So it’s more of a issue of: Blizzard not wanting to retroactively edit the old skins to tie in with valk and not bothering to use that option in most new skins.
This is the mercy buff we need. And yes, this has seriously been irking me for ages. If you have the foresight to change that tiny piece of metal over Moira’s eye to match her owl team color, surely you could have Mercy’s wings match (also, sombras hair). And maybe change a few colors on some existing ones? I’m looking at you Eidgenossen. Those yellow wings on the red body make her look like a French fry container.
And the argument that Blizz wants them to be yellow for an enemy team to identify her would make sense… if some of her skins didn’t already have different wing colors both in and out of valk.
