Latency spikes - rubberbanding, etc

Over the past month or two, I’ve been having issues with intermittent latency spikes. They happen every other game or so. Here are two WinMTR runs I did:

Minimal problems:

Lag:

It seems the problem in the cases with significant lag is the first hop to my ISP; however, I’m unsure if there’s anything can be done to rectify the issue on my end. I’ve tried setting a DHCP reservation for my PC on my network to avoid IP conflicts with no changes. I’ve reset all the network settings on my PC and my router as well.

For what it’s worth, I will note that Overwatch is the only game with which I’ve been having issues. I’ve run the same test with other games, and the same things don’t occur. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In this case, you will need help from the ISP. It’s likely that their hub you connect to is being overloaded/handling traffic poorly at sporadic times.

It might be due to the large quantity of packets Overwatch requires per second compared to other games. It’s something >60 I believe, which is high.

If you send this test to the ISP, they might be able to help you.
