We’ve all been in that situation before. You’re about to win the match, but out of nowhere, someone on the enemy team switches to a different, possibly off-meta character like Mei or Bastion and completely wipes out the enemy team. It’s just stupid when that happens. Makes those characters look nothing more than a “win the game” button.
It’s not a guaranteed win with those characters, but still, it happens most of the time, and it’s really dumb. I didn’t try my hardest only to get melted by a Bastion that only showed up 30 seconds before the game ended.
There just isn’t enough time left in the match to adapt to the new threat their team has to offer, it just feels unfair. Please don’t let people have the ability to switch heroes 30 Seconds (or) 1 Minute before the round ends. It’s dumb, unfair, and gives most heroes in this game a bad rep. (Looking at you, specifically, Mei. You’re the most common hero this happens with.)
I am not sure, I like to swap to Mei to stall. Is that what you are complaining about?
I always hate when I am Widow and get sniped by a Widow because… I had no idea someone swapped to her. As a Widow, I also get a free kill as Widow on Widow almost all the time. Maybe that chat should tell you when the freaking enemy changes and not your team. I do not care about my team. I care about what the enemies are doing.
And I thought u meant when one of my 4 dps switches to a tank/healer in overtime when I read the title

THey do what they’re designed to do, which is throw off the enemy team or exploit a hole in their comp.
I like to suck on widow all game then at the last minute switch to a healer or tank so people think I am helping.
(No I don’t really do this, but that player is in my game a lot)
In a game about switching heros to get an advantage people switch and get an advantage. Something ain’t right.
Swapping to an unexpected hero is part of the game. It’s the SWING factor that can take an enemy team by surprise. After failing a push again and again it needs life breathed into it. Otherwise it dies. Throwing in a random ace could tip the scale in your favor, because the enemy was expecting the humdrum for the 10th time.
I don’t know why one would dislike this.
Ah yes the classic “they’re losing and someone switches to Bastion.”
But the thing is, Bastion also has counters and if they adapted better, they deserved to have that game.
In an Overwatch match, switching until you find the most effective comp is smart.
You know sometimes in KotH games when we do real great in the first round, I switch in the beginning of the second one because I think to myself, “I would be switching right now to counter this comp,” and I switch to throw them off. I’m usually either the healer or the tank so say I start with a Wrecking Ball, I’ll be switching to Orissa in the second round. Mercy to Moira or Brigitte. That sort of thing.
Mei needs to not be able to stall point while in freeze form. Same that happenes to Sombra really. When she’s frozen, make it so that the timer progresses. Analogously for Reaper. The only stalling that should be “fair game” should be that done with tank abilities (eg Dva matrix) since that’s their role.
Basically, I want Blizzard to just delete hero swapping
I’d be cool with that. They should make it an arcade mode. Commit to your choice and adapt.
I think they had something along the lines of that before, back when they released one random mode at a time. Something called “Mobawatch”, i think.
2/2/2 will help alleviate this to a degree, since swaps will be more predictable. You won’t have Tracer/Genji dying on the 2nd pt on 2CP defense, only to then pop out of the spawn as Hog and Hammond.
Add it to the rest of the things in the bag named “hero switching was a bad idea”
I’m a bit disappointed this thread’s not about those people who select Ana, hang back at spawn while the team sets up shop at point A, and then switch to Pharah. Why do people do that?
Play mystery heroes alot, become accustomed to tabbing often :3 tabby pets! PET THEM!!
