Overwatch on PS4 and XboxOne lack the ability to change from one language to another. Some people might be more fluent in a foreign language and their experience of the game might be hindered if they bought the game in a predominately English speaking country.
We dont have it on PC btw.
We actually do, it just isnāt in the menu in-game. Itās on the OW tab on the Blizzard client under options. For some languages you have to download extra files.
I mean, Im sure if you change hte console language it may change the gameā¦
If you change the language system in ps4 settings, it has no effect on the in-game language in OW.
shrug the ps4 is all sorts of dumb
Thank you very much! I never knew this existed : )
Even though it exists on PC, it could be more user friendly to change the languages.
I had to figure it out for myself when I realized Calvin was playing on American servers but all his voicelines are in⦠Korean, I think?
Meiās voice actor for the English version of the game is Chinaās Symmetra so I swapped to Chinese for a while so I could play as Sym while also playing as Mei. Kind of confusing but a very fun fact (about changing languages) nonetheless.
There are articles with direct instructions on the Blizz support page, a google search for āChanging your language in Overwatchā brings it up as the first result usually.
Changing the language on PC is easy; I wish PS4 was like that.
This game has straight-up excellent dubbing for at least ten languages.
Overwatch language on consoles is inherited from the system language settings for your console. If thatās not working for you, try contacting Blizzard Support directly or asking about it on the Technical Support forum.
The problem is that half of the languages donāt work even with the System Language changed, even if it would work normally on PC. The issue is that Blizzard has a region block implemented for the languages on OW. Want to play it in German? You need to buy a German version of the game. Polish, Italian or Russian? You need to purchase OW from those respective regions. Either type of Chinese or Korean? Well, youāre **** outta luck.
While it is likely that would work if you could purchase a copy of the game from those areas, the odds that you would be able to even find one there is slim to none (yāknow, because of how much more rare PC gaming is in those areas and whatnot). The problem isnāt on the Consoles themselves either, the Console already supports those languages innately.
Just explaining the situation a bit more. Some languages do work without issue, but not all of them for the reason explained above. Itās also true on XB1 as well to my knowledge.
The only other one besides English I know of that works is Japanese
English, French, both types of Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese. Those are the languages that an NA PS4 copy of OW will work without issues.
The other 7 that should (but donāt) work would be German, Polish, Italian, Russian, both types of Chinese, and Korean.
