Lame Cheating by Spectator

Had a spectator in a game today was telling the other team where we were.

To me that is cheating… please remove ability of spectators to communicate with others.

Wont really stop anything.

If they cant do it through the client, they’ll just go into a discord call and communicate that way.

So just ignore it like it is okay…

Seriously?

What happened to integrity and honor and honesty?

Yes, seriously, because there’s no feasible option to stop something like that.

People arent following “codes of chivalry” in a video game.

Especially in a non-competitive environment. There’s no spectators in comp, where it actually matters.

Sad… my generation would not do it. We would condemn those who did. Pathetic.

Every generation would but just not say anything.

Nobody is trying to be some chivalrous knight in a quick play match.

Competitive integrity is still in-tact. Nobody is fighting for honor in a quickplay match.

I was a spectator today and I was able to spectate only through “my” team - so I´ve seen enemies only from their positions (and I could have warn them about sneaking Hanzo, but I didn´t). You can´t really spectate on the enemy team…right?

No spectating in the competitive mode…

You can’t spectate ingame in competitive games…so it’s really no harm no foul. In competitive, you can have someone watching your stream somewhere helping or coaching, but that’s not against rules either.

What exactly, pray tell, would your generation have done about it?

Unfortunately we’ve tried telling him he’s a very naughty boy but he hasn’t responded to the treatment. Any other ideas?

Welcome to Activision|Blizzard|King, thank you for your money! We’re a few steps away from EA.

If this was during a matchmaking game like Quick Play, spectators are purely limited to the POV of the team for the friends they are spectating. They cannot switch to the POV of any members for the opposing team. Only in custom games do spectators have free camera control and can view all members of each team.

Also note, spectators cannot enter any currently running competitive games of their friends.

YUP! I despise Spectators too! I wish they would SOLVE it.

I’ve opened up blizzard tickets on this before. NOTHING ever gets changed. It is unfair!

If they are cheating through spectating (becoming more abundant lately it seems) then it’s cheating.

People anno 2021 always try to seek (big)advantage over other players

what annoys me even the most is that the same players call themselves pro or skilled and “how bad” the enemy team was with ggez or ez at the end.

That’s quickplay or arcade, dude.
Who does that anyway? It happened one time and I’m sure half the enemy didn’t even look at the chat.

Sounds like someone on your team had a friend waiting to play and was just trying to have some fun by getting reactions from that friend. Unfortunate circumstance of being affected by it, but in all my years playing this game, this is the first time I’ve ever seen a complaint about it, and I myself have not come across it.

My personal verdict? It would take away a social aspect of the game over an extremely marginal part of the community, and I wouldn’t want those people to be the dictating force behind why things are removed.

This would however fall under gameplay sabotage. If your team asked them to stop, heck, even the enemy team, and they refused to do so, then everyone should’ve just reported them.

I’ve always thought spectators shouldn’t have the ability to use chat. Their backseating is annoying. Thankfully disabling chat works.

Speak for yourself.

I used to play counterstrike uhh 1.6? was it? Way back in the day. I’d play on the phone with my friend, and whenever one of us died, we’d tell the other one where everyone was.

Because, it’s, a VIDEO GAME.

Those got in the way of winning.

You know, what you are after, and you do whatever you can get away with to get it.
