IIRC, the last time Mercy met Fareeha she was a young child. When Ana disappears/ “dies” its safe to assume she goes to live with her dad, so Mercy probably doesnt see her again for decades. Unless the writers reveal that Mercy kept in touch with her, why would Mercy ever know how she grew up and turned out? Fareeha made it know she wanted to join Overwatch yes, but the organization was shut down well before she got a chance. Mercy, being out of touch and probably never really think about Fareeha, wouldn’t have the slightest clue she joined the Egyptian army and then Helix or where onnthe planet she is (given the fact her dad is Canadian) Nor would that be the first thing she thought of when she’s in the middle of giving aid to a war torn area when 2 people she believed dead arrives, asking for healing and her tea. She’s probably too shocked, confused, and angry to think about making small talk or ask about a girl she hasnt seen in over 20 years (maybe), unlike Jack and Ana who spend time together and have instances of silence where they can ask about how each other’s loved ones are. Mercy is aware of Brig through Torb and Rein, both whom of which she knows are alive and probably kept in touch with. It would make sense that she’s in the know about Brig’s whereabouts, and isnt keen on the fact of a young woman escorting a old war veteran around doing some probably illegal crusading.
That is a good question, seeing as Mercy is a doctor first and foremost. Is Damage Boosty canon? It would go against her Hippocratic Oath.

The irony of Gency being canon despite Mercy mains historically hating Genji’s in game while Pharmercy might end up hating each other in canon but are one of the best duos in the game lol.

The writers after seeing that Pharmercy is still more popular than Gency on ao3: “Jeff, we need you to implement the Sanctimonous Pacifist Complex. Also make Mercy immortal whenever she’s pocketing a Genji.”
Mercy doesn’t hate Genji in lore. In lore Angela likes him, he’s her close friend like Lena, Winston, Reinhardt.
What we know about Fareeha’s relations now:
- Fareeha respects old Overwatch members.
- Fareeha hates Talon members.
- Fareeha’s close friends are Reinhardt, McCree, Brigitte, Torbjörn.
- Fareeha loves Ana and Sam.
And I hope Overwatch 2 will expand her relations with other characters.
They’re just circlejerking their anti-Gency because of their own anecdotal evidence that Mercy mains hate Genji players in-game. Apparently gameplay should dictate the story, lol(?)

Amari and I were just joking about how the Gency and Pharmercy game play dynamics are opposite from lore lol, it’s well established in lore that Genji and Mercy are close but in real life it’s basically a meme that Genji mains and Mercy mains don’t like each other because Genji’s are either always killing Mercy’s or asking for healing from the other side of the map lmao.
